1973 Peterbilt Interior color question
Posted by Mr. Horsepower on Sunday, February 23, 2020 3:54 PM

Hey everybody,

I am building a 1973 Peterbilt 359 (AMT reissue) and I was wondering if anybody could help me out with pics and info on what interior colors were available back then?

Jay, try Google for your information.  Interior colors would also depend on the exterior color which you never supplied us with.  I use Google all the time for searching for information on a subject that I am building.  Use Google or whatever search engine your browser uses and type in 1973 Peterbilt 359 interior colors and look for your info.

Ok here's what I'm building.

1973 Peterbilt 359 that has recently been rebuilt. It's going to be white with blue stripes. Nice wheels and modern stacks and a couple of other goodies but basically still an old school Peterbilt.

I could not find any pictures of the actual colors that were available back then as most pictures on google show the later pre 1979 interior (corvette style dashboard).

I was wondering if tan or blue was available back then because that would perfectly fit my model.

Hi;

 Speaking as an older Peterbilt former owner, here's my info . The dash was black on top.( The crash padding ) Wood grain on the facings. My doors and seats were a darker tan leatherette( A tougher Vinyl) Now, the rest was a darker blue to match the dark Blue on the outside. I also had one that was " Dragon Green " ( my Name for it) And it had a very dark green in place of the blue trim.      Metalbender

I have several interior pictures that I have saved over the years. They are pretty much original plane jane trucks though. Not much color. Basically as described already. If you would like to pm. me your email, I would be glad to send them to you.

I found Commercial Truck Trader and Purple Wave to be good sources.
