Mack R685ST dash decals?
Posted by Calmo2 on Sunday, November 25, 2018 7:47 PM

Hello; I am building a AMT Mack R685 ST logging truck like I used to drive way back in the 70's when I was in my 20's and was wondering if any of you guys or gals out there know where and if I can get a set of dash decals for this truck. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George.

Hi Calmo,

I am also working on the Mack R685. I am going to just put on my mag glasses and use  a tooth pick to paint the dails on the dash. I have done this with airplane dash panels. paint a black background and go back and pick out the detail with silver on a toothpick or pin. You can create glass inst. covers using a drop of 5 minute epoxy.

I like the fact you drove one ! I drove a single axle Mack dump truck with a dual stick for the public works back in the early 70's Great fun they were !

Thanks for the reply Rixtoys52. I haven't got the kit yet but will look at how smal the guages are on the dash and see if I can see well enough to do it your way. To make the glass I am going to use Model Masters Clear parts cement and window maker. It dries clear as glass. I started my truck driving career in the 70's to. I started on a Pacific truck with a 335 Cummins and a 5 and 4 dual transmitions hauling coal off the mountains here in British Columbia, Canada. Some times it was fun and sometimes it was scary. LOL. Thanks again.
