Revell Jeep Rubicon
Posted by Rob Gronovius on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 11:18 AM

I wanted to build a Monogram Jeep that I originally built as a kid in junior high school over 40 years ago. It was a yellow off road Jeep with a "cool" eagle on the hood. I found one on eBay, but it was going for collector's prices. So, onto plan "B".

Using a Michael's 50% off coupon, I bought the Revell Jeep Rubicon. I did some research on the kit and it was originally released as a diecast kit from the movie Tomb Raider; however, now it is all plastic and molded in white.

The kit comes with two paint schemes, one a dark green park ranger vehicle and the other a yellow paint scheme. I chose the yellow version because it is closer to what I had build back in the day.

I've primed and painted some of the parts, and some minor construction has begun. Nothing special is going to be done, except use some bare metal foil on the tailgate that has diamond treadplate engraving on it. The kit looks to be a simple contruction with no engine and limited chrome plating.
