DAF 95XF Dutch-built Semi Tractor Done!
Posted by Ranchn62 on Thursday, August 10, 2017 4:23 PM

I decided to take a break from the break I was taking on the 59 El Camino project, and everything else on my countertop... So I'm building this Semi Tractor from Italeri, that's been languishing on the shelf for about 10 years. Pretty much box-stock, but with Hugger Orange as the base coat, followed by Clear Pearl (Testor's), decals, and 6-7 coats of Duplicolor Crystal Clear Enamel (love that stuff!).  Scratch building the seat harnesses out of masking tape, and extra sprue for the receptacles. The fit and finish is excellent on this kit, with virtually no flash. Almost done, pics are below...

Well, The

DAF 95XF is nearly complete. Still reworking the top spoiler on this tandem sleeper, though. Scratch-built shoulder/lap-belts, Chassis is completed, cab interior is completed, just need to put the overhead sleeper on. I'll wait until the truck is completed before addinghe mirors, ladders, etc. There is no engine in this kit which kind of puzzles me as this was not a cheap kit, and I bought it years ago.

Yes, I made some mistakes here, but I know where every one is.. It's still  nice kit. The directions could have been a ittle clearer, though.

So here are a few pics:

Das Finito! Done! My DAF 95 double decker sleeper is finished. I added A chain rack to the back of the cab, as well as chaining down a spare tire. Pics below...

Thank-you! It's Hugger Orange, followed by Clear orange, in turn followed by Metallic clear from Duplicolor. It's available at O'Reilly's, or auto paint stores, by the quart, and the beauty of it is that it's already reduced and ready to shoot.

Awww thanks! Too many mistakes on this... (I know where they live) to do that, but I sincerely appreciate your input.

Best regards,

Dennis

Looks great!  What amazes me is that they turn these into race vehicles and go racing!  I guess it is go big or go home!

Thanks,Mike.... I guess I'll stick around a litle longer.... Evidently I've been able to help a few people out.

Yeah, go race a 1/4 million dollar tractor..... kind of insane!
