Help with a tire problem
Posted by DaveS70 on Wednesday, January 07, 2004 7:38 PM
I have an AMT Bigfoot Monster truck that has a tire problem. The hole in the tire for the wheel is too large and therefore the edge of the tire pops off of the rim. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a way to fix this problem. I would really like to finish the model someday but see no point if the wheels are not going to go together correctly.

Apart from getting other rims, you could always try adding some extra styrene to the outer edges of the rims. The use bare metal foil or paint to match the rest of the rim. Hope this helpsSmile

Two methods that might work: 1. Try a few drops of superglue on the inside edge of the rim, or try a bead of clear automotive silicone. The silicone will attach to rubber/vinyl and plastic and can be wiped down by finger for an even surface. plus, drying clear, It blends with the color of both tire and rim.I also use the silicone to assemble resin kits and clear parts such as glass and lenses. Thanks for the tips. I think I will try the silcone first. Probably easier for my skills than adding styrene to the rims.
