Revell 87 Buick Grand National DONK

I am very excited to do this kit! Never in real life would I build or own a DONK but a model is going to be really cool to do. Never should a Grand National be DONKed so I am saying its a turbo Buick Regal DONK!

I am going to use a Kandy Purple Metallic from Testors hope you guys enjoy my first build on the forum

So here the car has went through a primer and a coat of Testors Silver so the Kandy has a nice base coat to rest on!

I love these things. I built one for fun about 2 years ago and loved every minute of it. I think I am going to have to go get another one.

Haha im glad somebody likes it! To be honest this kit is giving me so much problems already. The parts only came half chrome the paint is not coming out like planned haha but thats why we do these sometimes right? to make them work some way or another

Alright so if you have built a DONK model by revell you will know everything under is chromed out. Well if you are as lucky as me everything is only chromed on one side and they missed tons of spots on all the parts. Its no biggy just kinda ticked me off because this model is becoming a big pain already lol.

Here is what the rear axle started out as

And here is what the rear axle and driveshaft look like now

Here are some more updated pics of where the Regal is at right now. Finally got the rear end completed. Now remember everything under the car comes chrome in the box so i had to do a little custom painting on this one.

A word of warning mate, unless they did some work to the moulds when they donked the old monogram Grand national/GNX kit (whicn I doubt) then the fit of the nose and rear bumper is abysmal requiring a heap of sanding & filling.  It'd pay to attach them and finesse the fit before completing the paint.
I've also found it pays to glue reinforcing/locating tabs inside the body at the back to help locate the rear bumper accurately.

 HTH

I'm currently working on a Buick Grand National that apparently uses the same chassis as this one, so I'll have to watch the fitment issues as well. But yours is coming along great!

Still would like to see a model kit of the '97-'01 Jeep Cherokee... SOMEBODY?!?!   ANYBODY?!?!
