60 impala . Pain

This kit started out great. Sib assemblies went fine. Love the detail. But when it came to put it all together it was / is a mother. Everything seems warped or short. The engine compartment seems too narrow, had to remove parts to install engine. Then when the body was on the frame the bottom of the frame was exposed. Anyway i chopped and hacked ended up put side exhauat from my mercury kit. Still have more chrome to install. Maybe. Stuck it back in box and in basement for now.

Thanks. But the pics are decieving. On the drivers side the interior tub sticks up above the door and the frame is still exposed, well under the side exhaust. And the engine compartment is short a few pieces. But i do have another 60 impala kit.

Is that a Revell kit? I built a 1959 Impala convertable that had the exact problem regarding the driver's side frame being exposed.  However, your kit looks great.

Thanks. I have a few that are almost done. I need to concentrate  on one or two, instead of 5 or 6.

That looks great in the photo. If you do redo it, you will probably be able to plan around the known problems. I hate when the chassis shows like that, usually i try to study exactly whats hanging up and then get out the Dremel tool and start grinding. but you are hiding it pretty well with the lake pipes, at least on the passenger side. So do you mean on the drivers side, the chassis still sticks down below the body yet the top of the door panel sticks up above the door line? That might be difficult to figure out how to fix.

Actually both. The frame shows and the intetior shows. I have cut, trimmed, and sanded. The frame is behind the pipes on both sides. Think i may dremel frame rails down.

Have you figured out what is making it uneven side to side? Is the chassis warped, or maybe the body, or is the body side height uneven side to side? Maybe the door panel on one side is sitting higher than the other? I am sure you have thought of all this but it just seems strange that the right side is both high and low while the left side is just low (chassis showing, i mean, not the door panels). Sometimes i have to stare at something for quite a while to see whats hanging up stuff. Still, looks pretty darn good on the shelf with the right side showing!

The interior is sitting crooked in the pics. If the interior is level it shows on both sides
