Ekstensive Metal Works Hummer H2 (Game Over) Replica WIP
Posted by TATTOOTONY on Sunday, December 13, 2015 10:13 AM

Well this WIP was a project I started along time ago, that a good friend of mine of 19 years wanted & had dared me to build. I never went thru with it because I didnt think I could build it, myself and many friends here in the surrounding Houston areas have looked up to this skilled builder for years. He has taught many of us so many things about plastic and scratch building... And recently we lost this good friend owner & editor of Scale Lowrider Model Magazine, Pat " Buggs " Nixon... He will be missed dearly!! Yes I have another project on the table, but this one has more meaning. Because this is one he had wanted to see at shows, and I will do so... A good friend Avidinha has also started a 64 Impala SS project to remember our friend... Here it is and I HOPE I make YOU PROUD BUGGS!

Going to be a lot of work, but it looks like you have a handle on it.  Sorry, for the loss of your friend; this will be a fitting tribute.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

This is going to be awesome! It's going to be a lot of work, but if anyone can pull it off, it's you. Buggs would love it.

Thank you TarheelRick & Avidinha for the compliments... Well here is an update I used a small piece of styrene and glued it to the hood vent then glued it to the hood to shave it flush. You can also see I marked everything in RED that needs to be removed ( shaved smooth ) OR cut open ( doors & hood w/ fenders) notice the trim that was on the fenders is now gone, well that will have to be done all around the whole Hummer.

After meeting up with ALL my friends at our dear friends memorial this week, and speaking with Avidinha we would like to have both projects done by April's show in Stafford, Tx... This project will definitely need alot of work and many parts from other kits that I have laying around in boxes not being used. I used a front clip core from another kit to pull off the look, as you can see it's pretty plain once I cut open the hood & fenders MORE styrene,LS1 engine, suspension, and Air Bags will be added very soon

Looks like another great start.

Thanks 62pyro for the compliment... Here is an update, I had to scratch build some of the firewall & wheel well. I used a Teflon plastic casing, it had the right curve and its plastic!! So why not? Lol... I May have a opening in the firewall but that will be filled in with sheet of styrene

While I was at it I popped in the front core support, support bars, and LS1 engine. ALOT more of details will come when the engine is painted and suspension is placed in... Yes engine has to scoot back a tad but it's nothing that a dermel can't handle, this is what it's supposed to look like eventually.

some nice work there and you're making good progress. are those tv screens underside of the hood? That's slightly less crazy than WCC putting a tv underneath the car.

Thanks Aussiemuscle308 & Rusty32rod... Yes Aussie those are TV screens underside of the hood, and Rusty definitely alot of work but enjoying the challenges this kit has to offer to replicate the actual Hummer. Here is another update, I had to use several different pieces of styrene to fab the front bumper. Also had to suck it in towards the front grille, along with pulling the center mesh box outwards to make it flush. Ekstensive Metal Works did alot of fabrication, and of course I'll have to fine tune when the primer gets laid on.

I also molded in the rear bumper with the body, which had to be sucked towards the rear gate a tad bit these guys didn't leave any stone unturned. Everything marked with red still have to be smooth flush or filled in. Then I'll be moving toward opening the doors... Thanks for checking out the progress

Thanks Avidinha... Yes at times tricky but this build actually has been very cooperative for the most part, hope I didn't just jinx myself!!! Lol... here is an update on the sub box a lot of molding will still need to be done, at times when you get a mental block on what your working on its best to jump to something different then go back...

I also hinged the seats so when I display at a show you'll be able to see the subs behind the seats... Along with a pic of what it will look like eventually

Man thanks guys (Coast2Coast, Rusty32rod, Notstock) your words are inspiration to have this done by April for the ModelMania IPMS Stafford,Tx show... I got some fab time and worked on the rear tailgate, which to keep the weight of the inside panel from pulling it down I used 2 mini magnets

Thank you Avidinha & Rusty32Rod I try to keep everything styrene, very little putty or filler. Kind of like someone building a 1:1 using All-Metal compared to bondo filler, will be less chance of cracking down the road (shelf-life). I will post up more progress pics very soon! Matter of a fact I just ordered the Kandy paint last night... There are several of things fab and mold casting wise I still have to do for the interior. Thanks again!

Mustang1989 thanks bud... I'm currently on crunch time dead line of April 23rd, I was able to fab up the three 17" TV on the underside of the hood. These 3 TVs will have a special feature to where I can remove them, and replace from a black screen to printed screen ( stimulating an image as if something was on TV ).

Well just about a month left for the IPMS Stafford, Tx show, and it is crunch time a lot of details still to be done not to mention paint. So I finally fabbed up the Upper Control arms and Air Bags, as you can see they are a one off set up.
