Salt flat/lakes CBP inquiry?
Posted by bill mathewson on Monday, April 5, 2004 5:22 AM
Any interest in a CBP for salt flat / dry lakes cars, especially vintage? Race cars like early Ford roadsters and coupes, '53 Studes. belly tankers, and early LSR streamliners come to mind. (This is an era and type of race cars that really hasn't been modeled too extensively.) There are lots of inexpensive doner model cars and parts available w/ vintage engines like inline 6s, flatheads, early hemis, sb Chevys, etc. as well as decent '29, '32' '33-34, '40 Fords, '53 Studes and a host of oddball stuff in resin. Recent street rod kits provide far more accurate chassis parts than just a few years ago. Only thing that is really lacking are proper tires and I'm sure in a CBP that can be sorted out. This would be a neat way to thin out the spares box, too. If there is suffucient interest I'll propose some parameters and then we can reach a mutuallly agreeable concensus.

FYI -- if you're interested in a 'salt flats -type race car' CBP go to "Hot Rods, Street Rods, Street Machines - Forum and look for 'Spares!!' topic, and then refer to posts dtd 4/21 by 'ausbodies' and by me.
