Does Anybody Remember
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 1:34 PM
From a related post, I remembered an old Monogram model (from the 60s, I think) of an old front engine dragster with a Bantam coupe body mounted on the back (I think these were called competition coupes). Does anyone remember this kit, or better yet have a photo of it, or the box art? As I recall it was a 392 motor, rubber band for the blower belt, and the old style 'square' roll bar. I think it even had whitewall slicks. Wouldn't it be great if this one was rereleased? Also, since I'm asking, what was it called?TongueTongue

I think that I know the kit. The Monogram SIZZLER dragster kit came with a Bantam coupe body and a 392.The kit came complete with a driver figure and it had clear plastic front spoke wheels that I always thought were kind of goofy, but I sure wish that I had a couple of those kits now! Monogram made some pretty cool stuff back then.

Good luck finding one. Very rare and very expensive. If memory serves me right someone popped one in a resin kit a while back but can't remember who.

I know this is not the one your talking about, but this is the style your talking about. Using a chopped and narrowed 32 ford 3 window for the body and the Tony Nancy double dragster kit.
