The first Gulf GT40

Daytona 67, Wyer/Gulf GT40 driven by Ickx/Thompson (the dark blue one, with the orange stripes). What kind of wheels were fitted?
The Hallibrands common to most of the GT40s of that period...
Or the BRM wheels the Wyer/Gulf Mirages used during that season (and lately, also the 68/69 Wyer/Gulf GT40s)?

I have several photos of the car, but none of this show clearly the wheels.

That car is chassis #P1049 and raced at Daytona with Halibrand wheels. This is confirmed by Ronnie Spain's book and by photos I took of the car at the Watkins Glen 6 hour race in 1969 (edited, I had put 1967 when it was 1969). At the Glen the car was raced in a yellow-orange color with no stripes and was number 24. At the Glen the car also had a different rear clip with more squared off wheel arches.

Thanks a lot, mark IV.
I have the Island Collectibles decals and a Fujimi GT40 kit, now I can proceed.

Double Four Valve,

Here is a picture of P1049, the car that was the "first" Gulf GT40 at the watkins Glen 6 hour race in 1969 that I took then.

Hope this helps...BTW, I was at the Glen in 1967 when Jimmy Clark scored the win for the "New" DFV...Big Smile

Like your moniker....DFV! Also thanks to "FITTER" for scanning this picture...
