Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, February 5, 2004 8:07 AM
There was a posting on the gpma website www.gpma.org that Slixx decals maybe closing shop. This is because of the high lic. fees being charged by the teams and sponcers. I hope that this rumour isn't true.SadSadSadSadSad

Well, thanks a lot sponsors. What the hell do you care if some kids and hobbyists get to build a few models using your logos?! Just how do you think those people become familiar with (and create a demand for) your products?!

What a bunch of greedy dumbasses!

SLIXX may have had demand problems because so many people can do the work on their own PCs now. But, all this licensing crap IS becoming way to expensive. It used to be considered free advertising (good for the product producer). Gee, do you think Pennzoil or Mopar is going to sell LESS product because people use their logos on models and T-shirts? Heck no! They will sell more! DUH!!!!! Is someone going to sell a fake part or vehicle...convincing a potential buyer that its a REAL Mopar/Ford/GM part or bottle of Duralube/Slick50/Castrol....because they stick a "non-licensed" decal on it? Yeah..sure!

Sad to see a business fail that has tried to give us something we need. :(

"Help me....I've fallen and I can't get up."...my models are crushing me. my pics: https://public.fotki.com/dallas916/

I think we have the diecasts to thank for all this. They pay the price, and because they do, we have to, also. It will become an outlaw deal, like Starter's nascar kits back in the late eighties and early nineties. We need a don't ask don't tell policy.

This same thing happen in R/C car racing and what they had to do was take the decal sheet and split it up so it never made a word on it but you could make it your self. Auto Graphic's was big in the late 80s on this type of thing. To bad the little person has to fall just because of the greed but then again Nextel shure is not winston and they realy do not have the money to put up each year like winston did.

Somebody should buy and scan a bunch of their decal sheets, so we'll have them for future reference in case nobody steps up to make more decals.

I do that with all my kits, both models and R/C, in case the decal sets are discontinued.

Al's Hobby in Elmhurst, Illinois was discounting all Slixx decals 20% today. (Thursday). There were at least four piles on the counter.
