A pair of old Ferraris...
Posted by Slabbedask on Sunday, February 1, 2004 10:06 AM
Here's a pair of Ferraris I did about ten years ago. They're both painted Sikkens Ferrari Rosso Italia (of course..) and are built straight from the box. The first is Italeri's 250 GTO SWB (Short Wheel Base) Berlinetta. This is one of my all time favourite cars, with beautiful body lines, and power to match. Unfortunately they cost about what I earn in about 15 years, but a scale model is a good substitute...

The second is Fujimi's Dino 246GT. These cars never had any Ferrari badges on them, but was named Dino after Enzo's son, who died at 24. Beautiful cars nomatter what, and this Fujimi kit was a joy to build.

Nice work. I am working on the Fujimi 246 now, my first auto after some 30 years away from plastic. How things have changed... like WAY better kits, and WAY less hand-eye coordination. Jeesh! Anyway, in my idle youth I had the chance once to ride in one on a hair-raising sprint from Newport RI to NYC, what a memory. What a car!

Sweet! Full detail or curbside? Are there any full detail Ferrari kits?

WOW! A pedal to the metal trip in a Dino? I just got veeeery jealous of you, Gerard...
The Dino is a curbside, while the 250 has a motor and everything. Italeri also have a 250 GTO LWB kit. It's in my modelpile somewhere, but I haven't built that yet.
