Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 10, 2003 5:36 AM
I love to watch touring car races on Speedvision(or whatever the network calls itself nowadays)...Anyone else enjoy watching them or building them?

I just won a Tamiya 1/24th Mercedes CLK DTM Team D2 kit number 24234 for $12.00 including shipping! just one of 12 kits I have won this weekend....

I also enjoy watching rally car races....

obviously being downunder we get mostly V8 supercars (ford v holden) which is our national racecode
but we get a good selection of nascar and indy, german and british
touring cars and heaps of world rally championship in addition to the nhra roundups - just building an opel astra now

I think it's a shame most americans only think of Nascar, Drag Racing or Indy Cars, when it comes to racing. I'm addicted to Speedvision. I love rally racing (those drivers are amazing, not to mention the copilots trying to read a map, I think they must be crazy)
& touring cars are great also. I love the BMW's, Audi's, Benz's, and Porsche's. Japan has some great race cars as well. Check out the Nissan Skyline, over 800bhp from a turbo six cylinder, amazingBowBowBow

Me too! and this forum and building model cars and going to the hobby shop just to look, even if they have the same thing they had the last time I was there.......Tongue

Yes, I enjoy Touring Cars and pretty much any kind of racing.... If my television could only pick up one channel I would be happy as long as that one channel was SpeedVision Big Smile

SPEED VISION KICKS A##! I love to watch anything that races. Nascar will always be my favorite, but the touring and rally car series have really caught my eye. One thing about the touring cars that I haven't figured out yet, is there multiple levels within the series like there is in Nascar? I haven't learned the drivers or teams either, but I'm working on it.

I've only been modeling cars for a couple of months after twenty five years of aircraft. I love the variety of automotive subjects. I can't wait to try my hand at a WRC, Nascar, F1, more exotics and maybe even a tuner... even though I'm not quite sure what those even are yet (can't wait to learn).

I love racing of any type. But I truely love watching the touring cars. I was thinking of picking up a Toyota GT1 from Tamiya. Has anyone built this kit?

If has wheels and an engine and goes FAST, i'm there........... The main reason NASCAR is so big in america is marketing... people don't know about unless they see it on TV,in wally world, or at the local news stand......

If all the European racing classes got as much marketing and TV time as Nascar did, then i'm sure my 5 year would know what a Rally caris!!!!

and BTW, my 5 year old Zack, likes bobby Labonte, #18 !!

At 2 PM Central today Saturday is British Touring Car Championship on SPEED.

Love them Euro trucks, too. There's nothing like a big saa Volvo or MB cabover hitting the water spray to cool down the brakes!

Touring car pic's anyone?
I guess this classifies as touring car? It's the only one I've built.

When I was stationed in Germany a few years ago, I was hooked on DTM ( German Touring cars) and GT series when they came to Hockheimring. Formula 1 was too expensive and normally only one or two teams won. I could watch British and Austrialian touring cars on Eurosport then, didn't realize they came on Speedvision. There was North American series, but haven't heard much?

Hey mach1,

I have that Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI Jagermeister model kit but I haven't built it yet. Any thing I should watch out for? Or is it a standard Tamiya kit?

Hi Paul,

Standard Tamiya Kit for the most part. The front end, fenders and all are pretty much one piece that slips on but mine didn't fit very well........ so curbside it became (with an full engine that just can't be seen...... but I know it's thereCool )

thats a good looking model mach1. Sure is alot of decals. Thats why i have built any race cars to date. I have major problems with big decals. I always ruin them.
