Big John’s Willys Gasser
Posted by Papajohn on Saturday, June 6, 2020 12:44 PM

Here’s my effort on the Revell 1/25 Big John Mazmanian Willys Gasser kit with the blown 392 hemi. I tried to build it approximately circa late '64. I removed the funky cantilever snap-fit from the hood and filled in the mating notches from the body (what were they thinking???), otherwise it’s OOB except for re-metalizing some of the chrome and adding engine detailing. The trademark Mazmanian candy apple red was done using Tamiya TS-74 transparent red over Tamiya TS-21 gold. Decals are Slixx brand with Future applied beneath the larger markings to minimize ghosting. I look forward to building a Stone-Woods-Cook  version of this same kit someday as a match racer to park side-by-side. Nice fun easy kit and happy with the result!

Great Gasser. Perfect paint. Cool, wheelie stance display. Creative. Thanks for this.
