Revel 1/16 scale assembly instructions? help!
Posted by 1TOYTRUK on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 12:08 PM

Hi, Guys?

I bought a Revell # 85-7699, 1/16 scale Beebe & Mulligan Rail Dragster kit.

@ the annual Drag Racing Memories show @ the Mt. Hope, Warplane Heritage Museum. ON. Canada last weekend.

A good variety of Gassers, Pro Stock & F E Dragsters etc. as well as Model Car vendors, & a very good crowd to see the cars on show.

l bought 6 kits 1/25 scale & 1 kit 1/16  Rail Dragster my 1st in this scale, & 1 of my favorite Teams from back in the day, now l had a quick look at it, was a complete kit, so l thought! Agh!

Not So, missing was the Instruction sheet! it was in my excitement in finding this kit, l missed it.

So l HOPE some one has kept one they’ve built, & would be willing to Copy it & send it to me! l would really appreciate it!

Now lm familiar with the building of a 1/1 FE Dragster‘s that  was back in the 60’s when l built mine, but my old brain has lost a lot of them times!

lm lve looked at Revells Page re, Assembly instructions, but it’s not like it was before they went belly up! Not much on the Web either!

Thanks for any help.

I found these instructions for the California Charger AA/Fuel Dragster.  Maybe they are close to what you need.

Thanks, This will be a good start, l contacted Revell Germany about it so hopefully they may have it still in archives? Like Revell U.S. did have, l know they saved my butt a few times! When instructions went on walk about.

Not sure if this will help, but: https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/revell-instructions/straightline-competition/revell-california-c/ .  If that one doesn't work they also have the Tommy Ivo FE.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

Thanks Guys, A word to the wise, Forget about Revell Germany!

they have nothing! l guess it was not important enough to save past instruction sheets!

I pity the next modeler who gets a kit with no instructions, As Revell  U.S. now will not have them anymore if they do come back at all?

the instruction sheets are more or less common to each other, as is the kits, the differences are from what lve now seen, are in the the parts used in the real dragsters ie; engine Hilborn or Enderele injection , the top hats, bird catcher or post box etc.

Someone must have 1, but l will make do with replies received thanks again guys!

I don't have the Beebe and Mulligan insturction sheet, but I do have the Don Prudhomme Wynns FE dragster instruction sheet.  I would gladly scan the pages in as PDF's or JPEG's and e-mail them to you if that would help.  Let me know!

Hi Joe, That would be great, How would you send?

My thoughts are if you have a scanner & computer that would be 1 way or i noticed you have Fotki, that would be a another way. No cost other than time.

I think i will have to get a Fotki, then i can post instruction sheets into as well, builds i’ve done etc. so that if needed by someone they can get it.

Thats how i got the instructions for the 1/16 similar F/E dragsters, that is probably the only way to get Revell/Monogram instructions now!

Even  a couple of photo’s of the instructions, that you could email to me @,  popsponi@gmail.com

So let me know Joe, really appreciate you taking the time to do that!

Thats also great to have a Magazine that can help modelers find the how’s & how not‘s as well as help in other ways.

Thanks Peter

I have to Again Thank ALL! For the replies that made me a Happy Modeler!

Its really nice to have support when you need it, especially in this day & age!

l like most have a lot of irons in the fire, A 29 A Tudor that i started awhile ago waiting for things to fall in place, that now i will be able to finish, a recreation of ‘60’s Ozzie Hot Rod a friend of mine owned, that now doesn’t exist!

Amother car for a friend that’s just about to fall of the perch, as Ozzie’s say.

Then another car that i started in ‘12 a recreation of my ‘48 Anglia Altered painted with glitter a test to see how it looked & to represent the metal flake green it had, just need to put it together, that’s life it gets in our way at times! Agh!

Then now this FE Dragster Beebe & Mulligan, “ the Fighting Irish “ that l was not aware of in kit form & @ 1/16 scale!

A 1st for me! Thanks To Vettecote, Joe, for having the instructions & taking the time to help me out BIG TIME! can’t thank Him to much!

Then there is 1 really Special car, Ed Roth’s designed FE Dragster “ the Yellow Fang” driven by ” the Bushmaster “ Earl Schreiber” back in ‘64 the American Drag Racing team’s visit to Australia where I saw it 1st, a very unique dragster for its time, but not the only one designed differently. Then the other 50+ kits to build, & the 1/25 scale Drag Racing slot cars to scratch build & Race, before i fall of the perch? haha.

I just hope i can return the favor to another modeler, down the road! Thanks!

Hi Joe, I feel like 1 big dummy! haha, to busy looking & didn’t see it! Agh!

What did you think of my trying to recreate the chassis, body panels etc in metal?

If you are interested i’d be happy to make 1 for you at no cost to you!

only thing you would need are the engines, rear wheels tires and to finish,

front wires, i will try to make, & water slide decals. Also i have to do casting on another project i have. If it turns out well, i will be doing more!

Obviously this will take time so i’m looking at this time next year, for prototypes?

i might even try to do a build along of it on Scale Auto?

l have a few models that i want to try & make them that way, some are recreations of Drag Racing cars i had back in the ‘60’s.

So again Thank you for helping on this you don’t how much this means to me!

Have a good weekend, Peter

Peter, not a problem. Actually, I did the same thing when I was sending them to you! I too thought one was missing....lol.  I would love to have a metal one! I have plenty of spare part to make it complete. I shouldn't need decals tho. Hey, I enjoy helping out modelers. I just usually ask them to give it forward.

That would be great if you do the build up on SA online! I have an 1/16 scale also that I started on here, but haven't got much progress on...Its in this section, but further on down the posts. It's a front twin engined dragster... Its on about page 4. Look for....
