1990 Mercedes Benz 500 SL WIP - Finished for now!

I don't build what is usually catorgorized in the U.S. as Foreign and Exotic so I'll put it here. But I bought this Tamiya kit for $10 in a bag at the last model contest and vender show so here I go. I previously painted the body with Tamiya TS-17 and polished it out.

So when I started painting the other parts yesterday rather than painting the interior black indicated in the instructions I thought I would do the interior in silver like the body and then add black highlights. I don't really care for the kit decals which are black and yellow plaid looking patterns. So here is the body and interior all in silver.

I added some blackwash to one seat to see what that would look like. It darkens the color and makes it look more like leather (I assume they put leather in a Mercedes but I know little, if anything, about a Mercedes). So here's how that looks:

So I painted other parts black, including the floor, and blackwashed the remainder of the interior. So a little more paint and some foil and the interior will be done. Thanks of looking and Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Mclovin and Tom! I appreciate your comments!

The chassis went painted and went together well. No real detailing, just gunmetal, flat black, aluminum and glue.

So I put the wheels on it and mocked it up. Still need to paint certain areas of the body black but it getting closer to the finish. Thanks for looking! Cool

Just about finished. Body is on, taillights and headlights are in. But the bumpers were a bit different in color so I tried to darken them a bit with another aluminum paint but that didn;t work. So they are in the oven cleaner and I'll either have to drive 30 miles to the one hobby shop in the greater Houston Metoplex that I know has the Tamiya TS-17 Aluminum or mail order it. But its too cold to paint now.

I guess I can just say its Lindsay Lohan's Hollywood banger Mercedes until then! Thanks for looking! Cool
