57 Corvette gasser glue bomb rebuild
Posted by 59 Chevy Impala on Thursday, September 14, 2017 7:48 PM

Here are some pics of what I've got so far.  I sprayed Boyd's True Blue Pearl on the main body and Pacific Blue for the interior, top and coves.  The top has a coat of dull cote to tone it down.  I also had to repair the front end so I could pose the wheels.  They don't turn very much because of the headers though.

Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

Stick out tongue Gotta love a vette drag car ! I see what you mean about the fenderwell headers / wheels .

Try warming the headers up, and squeezing them back towards the firewall a tad ...

(I've been watching the "era specific " South East gassers on youtube and... WOW ! theres some awe inspiring stuff there ! And as a Brit , I 'lurve dat aaaak-sent' ! Big Smile

Thanks Spencer and thanks for the tip.  I was thinking about removing the headers and shorting them up a tad and gluing them back on.  Either way will work I think.  Dan

She's a gittin thar fer sure.  I used BMF and chrome pen for the trim.  I had to remove the pins for the interior so I could move the interior forward a tad and I also moved the engine back a tad so the gap between the body and tilt front end would close up.  There was about a 1/16th gap.  Now I have to shorten the drive shaft a tad.  I also shortened the headers a tad so the wheels would turn  a little more.

 Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

Well, she's done.  I used BMF and the chrome pen for the trim and tail lights.  I shortened the headers a tad so the wheels would turn a tad more.

This can be moved to the finished thread now.  Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

Thanks T.  It turned out not to bad.  I do like Boyd's paint.  It goes on very nicely.  I have a 60 flip nose to go along with this and I might spray it with the colors flipped.  Not sure yet.  Dan
