I picked this up on clearance at Hobby Lobby for 24 bucks and just could not pass it up. The kit looks pretty good inside and I will likely build it as the kit comes.

I'll be watching. Buddy was one of the great ones and a very kind soul.

We were having dinner at a seafood place in Daytona about 1984 I'm thinking? Anyway, after losing a bet to swallow a raw oyster, I went outside to chuck over the rail into the water. A large group wearing Valvoline colors arrived and the biggest guy in the group, nay the area came right up to me. "Are you feelin okay kid?" (I was about 18 at the time. I told him yes, and asked if he was part of the Valvoline team. He said "I hope so... I'm the driver."

We talked while my stomach settled and he even autographed my race program. Absolutely one of the nicest guys I ever met. :)

My favorite color is clear. I am also ambidexterous, I can screw up equally well with either hand. I am 53 years old and been building for most of that time. :)

I would agree and I am not a Dodge guy but always loved the body style as well.

Thanks , Mike

This kit is still considered one of the most accurate ever made.

By the looks of it , it should be a great kit to build.

You should quite enjoy it. It's been a long time since I built them, I don't remember any fit problems, but be careful with the shock absorber posts. The chrome parts break easily. I still have an unbuilt Petty Charger with the clear body.

I started this AM and there is a considerable amount of flashing but no big deal. I did already run into a fit issue with the battery in the battery box , but an easy adjustment.

Well , I have gotten this far and it has not been easy. A lot of flash on most parts and instruction flaws on the A arm brackets, but that said , I am having fun and a great break from the model trains.

Made some more progress on the engine and got the wheels chrome stripped off and painted black as well as the tires sanded. Also several misc. parts painted.

Thanks , Mike
