Belkits Ford Escort RS1600 Completed
Posted by Biker on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 12:27 PM

Hi All,

First post and thought I would put up some pictures of my recently completed Belkits Ford Escort Rally.  Good fitting kit overall - very expensive though!  Decals were thick and could be a challenge to get good laydown (and I had to touch up in a couple of places).  Overall, very happy to have this great subject on my shelf.

I've been waiting for someone to build and post up some pics of one of these Belkits Escorts. Your build looks fantastic. Nice work. It captures the old rally car vibe very well.

It seems like a nicely detailed kit and the proportions look good. Is there any engine detail in this kit? How is the chassis and interior detail? Also, is there another tire option in the kit?

Thanks for the kind words.

This kit is curbside without a full engine (just a bottom insert that is they largely covered by a skid plate).  Chassis and interior detail are adequate.  The kit comes with photoetched seatbelts (that I gave up on due to the difficulties in working with the seatbelt ribbon).  Both could benefit from some additional scratch building if desired, but look good right from the box (as this build was).

There is a second set of tires.  Fitment of the tires on the rims was "challenging" at best and came down to good old-fashioned force.  Once this set was on, there was no going back for a mockup with the other set.

I did one last year, muddy  and grubby - just off a stage, used the kit tarmac tyres and they went on a doddle.

Will build most anything, love American cars muscle etc.Britishvehicles are a buzz too, trucks are great - want to do a jet truck, building parts up...

Mini Man - great build.  Any better close up pictures?  What paint did you use?
