NAJA,

The MetalFlake Brand of paint used to have a almost perfect match the color was Ice Blue Pearl. Unfortunately Metal flake is no longer in business. To get the color spot on you are going to have to mix it. I went through my HOK color chip book and their is nothng close. It you feel daring I can get you close and you will have to adjust from there. The first question I have is what brand of paint are you looking to use?

Rass,

Thank you for your response.

I have no preference for paint systems.

I use Testors, Tamiya, and automotive paint.

It can be aerosol cans or I can mix and airbrush.

For me, finding good reference pictures of the subject matter is a real pain.

If you have a formula that yields a close approximation, I can live with that.

Thanks again,

Larry Landis

Larry,

I did some research in my color chip books and found some colors that are close.

Toyota colors from 1982 have some really close colors to O.Gs Multi Mav and other cars of O.Gs. I would look at these and tint or add pearl to one of theses colors to get what you are looking for.

Toyota has a color that is called Ice Blue, paint code number 8G2

Small quanities of this color can be purchase at TCP global and Automotive Touch up Finishes

A great product for adding more pearl to which ever color that suits your eye are pearls made by the Jacard company. Hobby Lobby has a good selection of these pearls.

I could give you my formulas for what I would try however they would need to be tweaked to get the effect you want which can be a long process. That's what really prompted me to look at color chips to get you close vs a formula.

I hope this helps... if I can help any further... Give me a shout.

Rass,

Thank you for your diligence.

I will check out the TCP paint colors and the Toyota colors.

My plan is to build both versions to display together.

What do you think?

I purchased a can of Testor's One Coat Lacquer no. 1844 Icy Blue to compare with the other colors
