Banger/DD circuit,a long term build inc the 56 Ford.Plus a Rolls ROYCE.

Going to be doing a British banger (similar to a DD car) set in 1980 so no stupid rules to follow...Started by cutting the front fenders for clearance.

So the doorskin has been removed to be replace with foil.

The hood and fenders under way,the idea being to complete the body,''damage'' it,spray and decal it - decals on the way...

I have a choice of wheels, mostly steelies with some alloys - dont want them all the same on the car!

Man Nigel..this is going to be a cool build. I like the foil for body damage technique. Looking forward to your next update..

Thanks Gary,Big Smile

Also have bent the roof on the passenger side, just enough to write the car off - according to my timeline the car would be 24 years old, also being in the UK it would not be worth repairing!

Go with the steels ! I don't think the VERY SAUCY spindle mounted 12 spokes would last long (Wanna sell em ?? ... I got a gasser screaming out for em !) LOL

Alas Spencer,my last stroke affected my arm and I can no longer write,am houseboun too.

Well the surgery has started, the core support and lower part of the fender have been removed.

As well as the lower rear fender(the A POST broke on me so it is taped t the roof for safekeeping)

The front 2/3 of the hood - you get the idea!!

The wheels tested, with r slicks (tuesday the 17 of july 1980 - that was summer!)

A mockup....

Been chopping the floor pan, chassis legs and inner fenders a bit.being an American car it would be a 'target' for the local lads - so it will have a series of hard hits to the rear plus damage to the front.

Been working on the rear end, cutting it  away for a BIG! hit.

Next will be the drivers door and front fender, then glueing the panels on..

As said the gas tank was removed.

With the rear of the chassis getting a wallop!

The left fender was shortened quite a bit..

And the NEW panel fitted..

I built a basic roll bar from Plastruct.

That is all the panels done now,so I started to 'adjust' the rear end!

Next will be batter, glue and paint (repeat as nesc...)

Decided to build the bombers seat,

First time I have built with etch and it went surpisingly well!

Well worth £6.

Then it was onto the body, the engine sits low and back giving 'push' room...There will be a water tank on the non existant rear seat.

The doors have received a love bite each.

While the back has been hit, straightened X times..

On the go at the mo...

Got a few decals on,bearing in mind they are a new sheet they broke up badly..SO NOT HAPPY WITH THEM!!!!!!!!

Got the engine together, and also bent the steering wheel in  'Glaswegian kiss' style!

Patience was short today ( pain levels high ) so the battery was drilled along with the floor, this is as far as it got!

Got the dash painted and the battery and fitted the seat.

Then found a couple of fuel cans, one for gas and the other for water!

Gave the wheels a black wash.

Then more decals - Unipart and Britax.

How she looks at the mo...

I got some of those etched harness parts from Hiroboy . they are awfully tiny ! And some need to be folded . and then the 2mm bars need to be inserted between the .....er ... put em back in the bag & take them to a watch maker to do !!! LOL I might have a go at one later ..... maybe . Seats look perfect too !

Since I am doing a banger a recovery vehicle is needed.

It will be a rough and ready truck...

It will no longer be roadworthy.

As said it aint gonna be roadworthy, one door is off and the other is coming too!

Which means patching up the inner tub and creating door steps etc.

Think the gas tanks and exhausts will come off soon!
