"Tangerine Dream" '65 Impala
Posted by crzyhorse on Thursday, February 26, 2004 4:02 PM
This is based on the Monogram '65 Impala SS396. The engine has been converted to fuel injection, the chassis lowered, and the interior upgraded.

The bodywork Is based on artwork I did while stationed in Saudi in '91. The GFX are from an '89 trans am, albeit reshaped to be sympathetic to the upper beltline. the front spoiler is actually a rear from a '79 T/A . The rear wing is the targa bar from an 80's t/a. The paint is a custom mixed "Candy Tangerine" I used testors orange mixed with turn signal amber.

The fuel injection plenum is actually a muffler with a TPI throttle body glued on, all this is mounted on a tunnel ram intake. the injection's been wired, as has the alternator, and distributor.

The chassis has only modest upgrades. it's been plumbed with fuel & brake lines. the stance was set to get the beltline level, & get those WIDE amt "gatorback" tires in there. The Wheels are from thr AMT '72 Chevy Stepside kit. I also added megaphone exhaust tips.

The interior is pretty much stock, with Detail master Street rod gauges, and kitbashed headrests.

I agree. Nice job.
I'm hopelessly addicted to building models. Not finishing them, just building them.

That sure looks like a car I remember seeing in an old issue of Car Craft or Hot Rod! Real nice! Where are the rims from?
