fender skirts - how do I make them?
Posted by Canada Jeff on Sunday, November 16, 2003 3:20 PM
Does anybody have a good trick for making fender skirts that are symetrical? I often need to make ones that are compound curves or have other unusual shapes, and getting them the same on both sides of the car is a pain.

HEY,
You could try vacuum forming. Ive never done it so i dont know. I think that there are companies that make them. Just throwin around some ideas.

make 1 side, make a thin latex mold of that piece,
and turn the mold inside out.
then cast both sides out of resin so they match.

never done it myself, but the theory sounds good.Big Smile

good luck

I like to find certain curves and shapes on old bodys that are left over from being kitbashed. I've made fender skirts from '67 Chevelle roof corners for a '49 Ford aswell as skirts for a Merc from a 57 Chevy roof, just look at those shapes on a car and you can find all sorts of cool ideas.
