Is this kit unusual or rare?
Posted by mishalah on Monday, February 9, 2004 12:06 PM
A few years ago I acquired a '57 Chevy kit that seemed a bit different to me. It is all in pink, has opening doors, hood, and trunk; and the box art shows it to to be built as a street rod (or possibly a lowrider...gasp!). I don't know why the pink color. I have it stored away, so I can't give you the manufacturer, but I was wondering if it is worth pulling out and seriously considering building or finding a new owner. i don't do the 1/24 stuff anymore, but I couldn't resist the features.

Does anyone know anything about this kit?

I really don't know anything about the kit but it sounds pretty good. By the 1/24, it may be an old Monogram kit. I have a 1/24 scale Monogram 41 Lincoln rag top that I need to build. I think it's from the early 80's(?) Great detail; and features.
I'm hopelessly addicted to building models. Not finishing them, just building them.

If you are talking about the 55 monagram Street Machine this was pink on the box and has openning doors and hood.

I'm thinking that this was a Revell kit from the lae 80's It would possibly be from the Skip' Fiesta series(kind of an American Graffiti spin-off) It's a nice kit and has a few items that make it different but its the standard 57 thatRevell offered for years. I'd say it would have a value to someone that wanted it, but isn't hugely valuable. But, you know, value is based on desire, not rarity. WOLF

I believe the kit you are talking about is REVELLs '57 Chevy "Low Rider" that was released in the mid '70s. The photo on the box shows a actual built pink model with small white-wall tires mounted on Astro Supremes, there is also a decal that is on the window that says "Witchs Brew". 2 weeks ago I saw the same kit at a toy show and it was going for $30.00. Hope this helps.

I agree,it's one of the re-issues of the OLD Revell '57 Chevy. It's 1/25 and a bear to build, nothing fits right anymore. I wouldn't care to try to build one,if you check out my other posts, you'll see where my skill level is. Might be worth somthing as a nostalga peice,if you really want to build a '57 Chevy, get one of the AMT/Ertl ones.

Thanks, guys. I think it might be that '57 "Low Rider" kit. I remember the box having those words on it. I bought it because I liked the idea of having all the panels already opened and hinged (I hate doing that).

I keep opening box after box, but still haven't found that one or my box full of 1/24 parts. When I find them all, I'll post whet's there for you guys to pick through. I have found a nice Mono '59 Impala, a Testor's Ferrari 246GT, a 30-something Lincoln Gangster Sedan (with bullet holes), a Johan Chrysler Turbine car (plus an extra body for it), and some I can't remember.

Do any of you collect Diecast? I have a really nice Lane '65 Mustang GT350 (white w/gold stripes--#1666 of 2500) that's still in the box from 1999-2000. I was gonna put it up on Ebay, but if any of you are interested just email me. I think I paid about $70 for it back then. But....

I also have some 1/24 wheels/tires from ARII that are really nice, but sort of '70s/'80s styles.

Anyway, if this stuff interests you, email me at mishalah@usa.com.
