stupid molded exhaust!
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 8:20 PM
I'm getting ready to build an AMT '55 Nomad wagon, and it looks like a good kit in general, but it has the stock exhaust system molded into the chassis. So lame. It looks like it would be tough to cut out, too. I'd also like to add wider rear wheel wells. Has anybody got any ideas on this? Perhaps a substitute chassis from another kit?

you can make tub's out of top's of your old spray can lids. cut them in two and then replace the old fender well's with them. Also on the exhaust there is a couple of way's you can do this and make it better but you be better off not worrying about it that much.

For an other kit use on the AMT 55 Nomad right now there is not one but if ya can hang on for a while longer there should be some thing come out on this topic.

Thanks for these ideas, folks. I just ordered a '55 street machine, and I'll see if that can work. If not then I'll check out the '57.

Oh well. Maybe the stock exhaust won't be molded into the street machine chassis, at least.

Man, you're not kidding, that is a great '57. And that blue '49 you have there is absolutely awesome! Did you handpaint those graphics?

The new AMT 55 and the Revell 55 does not have it molded in to the frame. I check on this.. I did not look on the 57 Custom i have so it may or may not be i will look later this weekend for you.

thanx for the compliment jvaillancourt! is that the chassis you were looking for? that car has pretty wide tires on it,so you might not have to do anything to it .the graphics are hand painted on the 49,but, not by me.a man named Ken Brickell done those for me at a show in lexington,ky for 5 bucks! good guy, even tought a few of us how to do them.i still haven't got the hang of it ! also the headlights and taillights don't work on that car, they're just wired.

I'm going to set this car up as a lowered rod with Pegasus chrome T's so I might not have to tub it. I'll see how this '55 Street Rod chassis works out. Thanks again, guys.

yeah those chrome T's are sharp wheels.good luck with it and post some pics of it if you can.thanx for the compliment tc,yeah he got a hold of it too.i am planning on stripping it and repainting it though, they really don't suit it to me i think the chrome strip down the side kills it
