Hot Rods to Hell Corvette
Posted by spencer1984 on Thursday, March 12, 2020 10:33 AM

This started life as a gluebomb I got off of eBay, stripped and rebuilt into the titular car from the 1967 cult classic Hot Rods to Hell.

Despite the heavy-handed application of glue and paint, most of it was salvageable. The only parts missing were the radiator, a door handle, and a wiper, so these were all replaced with modified pieces from my parts box.

I replaced the fuel injection intake with a set of dual quads, cut back the exhausts and made a set of glasspacks, radiused the rear wheel openings, cut off the chin, and raised the front end. The wheels are resin aftermarket Radirs, narrowed in the rear and matched to parts box (front) and 3D printed (rear) tires. The roll bar is scratch built, and all of the markings, license plates, and dash gauges are my own decals.

A longer write-up of everything that went into it is available here, and as always comments/criticisms are welcome.

Impressive metamorphosis Spence!

Loved that movie as a kid. Dana Andrews, a terrific actor, played the dad if I recall. The "bad girl" that rode with the two street racers sat on the rear deck of the 'vette with her hands grasping the roll bar. Wonder if there are any suitable resin figure that can added to your build to re-create the movie poster?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the roll bar was added to the car for that reason alone!
