34 Ford Chopped Coupe Finished, Outdoor Pics!

Its been rainy and cold for over a week, so I was going through my closet to see if there was anything of interest to build or to get rid of and I ran across this old kit.

I remember buying this kit at Michael's at Christmas time 1985. Why do I remember that? We had just moved to Spring, TX from Indianapolis, IN. We had a 2 year-old who we spent a lot of time chasing around the house and we had made some friends in the neighborhood. I thought this would be a good time to re-kindle my childhood interest in building models. This kit was on sale, obviouly a special purpose Christmas item, and they were trying to get rid of these kits before Christmas. So I bought it!

I have built the T-touring model in the kit many years ago and its white interior has long since yellowed. Its not a very good kit but none of them were back in 1985.  The tires for this build are two-piece vinyl tires that have to be glued together. The chrome and many other parts are covered with flash that has to be removed. But the frame is a tube-type kind of construction. Pins are very tiny and I removed some of them while scraping off flash. But the body was in good shape with little if no flash or mold lines. I painted the interior doors and seats Krylon Satin Almond and the floor flat black as those paints are not as susceptible to the moisture clouding as gloss paints. The 427 Shelby Cobra is painted flat black, aluminum and gold. Here are the parts laid out ready for final assembly:

Thanks, Mustang and Chucky!  I appreciate your comments!

I was quite impressed with the red plastic since there were no mold lines or mold release marks. Since I couldn't paint due to the weather, I just took my bottle of Scratch - X and polished it up! Now I have one less big box in my closet holding very few parts. Thanks for looking! Cool

Cool looking 34 coupe, Junior. It has a classic, 70s look.
