08 Bullitt Mustang Finished!
Posted by Watain on Sunday, March 29, 2009 3:39 PM

I knew after nearly trading my 1:1 06 GT to one of these 08 Bullitt's brand new back in June, that when I saw the kit at Hobbytown a few weeks ago I just had to build it. So here is my most recent finished project, Revell's 2008 Bullitt Mustang. The finish is Testors Laquer Fathom Green Metallic, it was the closest thing I could find to the Dark Highland Green of the 1:1 production car. I started out filling the spoiler holes with putty, then primed it; after primer I layed a coat of Tamiya British Green on Followed by the Fathom green, and seven coats of Tamyia clear coat. I then sanded and polished the car. The wheels were originally chrome, I shot a coat of Model Master flat black on them, and then Gunmetal. I did the same with the strut tower brace, it was molded in chrome, I sprayed it aluminum. Overall the kit was a nice build, I had a fit problem with the right side of the winsheild; something that will be fixed in future builds. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for looking!

Next up a 2006 Mustang GT custom, and 2007 Shelby GT500.

I didn't know how many images I could attach at once, so I made two posts.

Cooooool!  Love it!!  I just picked up this kit myself.  Not sure if I will ever get to build it, but I HAD to have one!

You said you had to putty the spoiler holes.  They left them there for the kit? Huh... I guess they just used the GT body.

Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for the compliment, there isnt much difference between the kits. It is the same body you just get the extra Bullitt parts like the srut tower brace, wheels, intake, and grill.

Oh don't get me wrong I love the Bullitt, I just love my 06 more. Plus it has the added convenience of an auto trans. I will probably still get a Bullitt after I graduate college and get a good job.

Thanks datsun, one thing I forgot to mention is that I had a hard time with the strut tower brace. Regular cement won't touch it, Its so springy that I had to use medium viscosity CA glue to make it stay. Fyi for everyone, I figured out what is wrong with the windshield in these Mustangs. They are too wide at the bottom, I will probably take the body off and trim the bottom of the winshield. The gap between the body and winshield seems to be getting worse daily. I know that will cost me some points during the National model contest in April.

Man that paint is nice.  That must have taken a while to buff out.  The model looks great.

It wasn't too bad, took me about an hour. I use 3 types of wax: 3M Scratch remover, 3M Performance Finish, and something called Big Willies butter wax that I picked up at Fun Ford Weekend.

Thanks guys,I never even took the kit out of its bags until I found a color close enough to the original. Fathom Green was the closest, and even looked better.
