My Third gen Trans Am fetish.

Here's some pics of some third gen Trans Ams I have collected. I will post some pics of the 2 that are in progress soon. My modeling skills aren't great as I have been out of the hobby for about 15 years, so they don't look too great atm, but I'm working on it :)

I have had to get these sent over to me from the USA as you can't get them in Australia. I own a real 1988 GTA which is a VERY rare car over here. It is RHD. BTW, any ideas on how I could convert a LHD dash to RHD?

It's not ready for public consuption yet lol. One of those black 87 GTA models was partly started, I got it cheap off evil bay. It is a mess but I wanted it for some of the GTA specific parts. I am using the body off that (with a few small mods) an combining it with the chasis (again a bit of a mess, I'm redoing it) from the old LAPD Camaro pro stocker. I'm just trying to decide whether to build it as a race car or a pro streeter. I could add an interior and make it a street car, maybe.....

Love those 3rd gen Firechickens! Had an 82 T/A (LG-4/T-10) and an 84 Firebird (LG-4/ T-5). Would love to have another. I am partial to the MPC/AMTs, as the seperate ground effects allow you to mix and match the body styles.

One of our defects as a nation is a tendency to use what have been called "weasel words." When a weasel sucks eggs the meat is sucked out of the egg. If you use a "weasel word" after another there is nothing left of the other. -Theodore Roosevelt, speech, May 31, 1916, St. Louis, Missouri

Do you mean the red 83? Ebay, you can't get them any other way over here. I've got a 1:16 version of that car on it's way too. As well as another version of the MPC/AMT T/A kit.

My good friend has a gta notch back, actually both him and his brother have one. I believe my friends is a 350 and his brothers is a 305. The funny thing is before we became good friends the shop I was working at totally stripped the car down to bare metal and fiberglass, which I did most of the de and reassembly and some painting on it. I always thought about building one. I love the look of the notchbacks.

By the way crusader I didn't know a 1/3 of your collection was Pontiac, now I have even more respect for you.....lol
thats gonna leave a mark!!!!Mischief You are the king of burnage!Bow http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p20/oneoffconcepts/

I'm not a huge fan of the notchbacks, but they are rare and that does up the cool facter for me. I'd love a model of one, but I think there was only one model done of them and I haven't had any luck getting one.

Hey VAN454 you would be pleased to know that revell has reissued the 91 Formula. It now comes as a 2 in1 with some cool graphics and big wheels.

Yeah, I'm led to believe that it is actuallt the old monogram kit, like the GTA kit's I have not the revell kit, which is a shame as the revell kits look to ba a little better in most ways. I still plan to get one though.......................

Well I have built a few models since I last added to this thread, but I can't be bothered doing a thread for each unless there is one that people are really interested in seeing more of, so I will put the ones I've built into here.

Here's the re-issue of the Knight Rider MPC kit (KITT?) built as KARR

This is the old Revell '83 SE

This is one of the Monogram GTA's from above

This is a little cartoon type Knight Rider model that I got on evilbay, it has no interior and a pull back motor, sometimes these simple builds are kind of fun

And this one is the 1:16 GTA from above (I now have 2 more of them)

I have still got loads to build, and I always want more :)

VAN454,you've got some great models,Bro!!! I have the old Monogram '85 T/A kit (built back in the early 90's),and a few of the reissued '91 Formulas as well. Seems like I remember building one of those old Revell (or Monogram?) late 80's Turbo T/A's and that black GTA...they were lost to a move several years ago...wish I had those Birds back!

Here's the '85 I built back around '90-'92 (it could stand some cleanup, and some parts worked on a little,my skills weren't great then)...

I've never owned a Firebird or T/A tho,the closest I've came was a pair of Camaro IROC Z's. I will remedy that one day...

I remember these, I built a Formula up into a U.S. Border Patrol unit. This is when they still ran the mint green & white paint scheme. That was avery good kit. love to get my paws on one again so I could rebuild the border patrol unit.

You should definatly build another one, I assume that it was the Monogram/Revell Formula, the same as my blue one above.  That's a pretty nice kit, it goes together nicely

Awesome builds guys.  I love 3rd gen Pontiacs as well.  I had an 89 Formula TPI T-5 car.  I also have a lot of those models as well.  I've got an AMT notch, AMT 20th Anniversary T/A, 3 AMT 91s, an AMT 92, a Revell 87 GTA, and Monogram 4 91 Formulas.  I also have a few AMT 92 Camaros.

Hey, I also have a T/A! It's a 1983 Pontiac Trans Am '25th Anniv. Daytona 500" pace car in exceptional condition! You never see these cars in good shape anymore. I also have a 1:16 MPC Firebird kit that I'm building to replicate my car. I'm currently trying to sell my car, so it'll be a nice keepsake. Also, VAN454 or Crusader, if you ever want to part with one of those black 1:25 MPC Firebird kits, I'll take one off your hands.

Here's a few pics of the kit I'm building (very slow process, as I do it in my very limited spare time)

i used to own an 88 firebird. it was LHD so i couldn't drive it (legally ;) )

VAN454
BTW, any ideas on how I could convert a LHD dash to RHD?

cut the top off (dash top), cut the bottom off (below the gauges), split the facia into sections and reglue them in the new corrected order (ie L to R~ vent, glove box, radio, tach, speedo, vent)

Wow!  Nice ride I'm jelous.  Definately looks like you have seen a lot of things and been a few places with that car.  Is one of those pictures in front of the boardwalk in santa cruz?
