3500 kits!!! Whoa. I'd be lucky to get away with 35 kits in storage. Now that's a collector.
I'm hopelessly addicted to building models. Not finishing them, just building them.

consider the first "plastic " vette kit didnt come out till late theres only a 5 year start..bth kits have been kitted in many forms from promos to annuals to one off customs..if you also include race cars and dragsters etc..then the numbers become even more insane..but in all forms over the years..the stanf has actually had more versions/copies made then the vette ostly due to the addition of many more racing versions the 70's alone..amt/mpc and revell were churning out stangs atta rate of 2 to1 over the vetter due to so many more variations..if you do a decade by decade count..mustang wins by quite a bit cept one..the 90's..the c-4 and c-5 almost caught the vette up to the info isnt researched based on my friend joe haveing EVERY vette and stang kit ever made..not joking..his collection numbers over 3500 kits

I am no expert but I would imagine it is a fairly close call but the Vette is probably the leader simply because the 1:1 car existed for 10+ years before the 1:1 Mustang appeared, thus there were many more years to make (into model kits) to cover all the body changes. The Vette also benefitted from its popularity in all forms of motorsports and customizing.

I am noe expert either ut I would have to say the Vette as well, factory stock, gassers, street rods......
and ifI had to choose a favorite between the 2 it would be the Vette
I want to be a race car passenger: just a guy who bugs the driver. "Say man, can I turn on the radio? You should slow down. Why do we gotta keep going in circles? Can I put my feet out the window? Man, you really like Tide..."

A question for the "experts"

After reading the article in SA about the many Mustang kits made over the years, I started thinking (something dangerous for me......). It seems to me that quite a few Corvette kits were made also; I can't help wondering which vehicle had the greatest number of different kits produced for it in 1/24th and 1/25th scales - the Mustang or the Corvette. Does anyone have this information ? If so, it would be a great ( if useless ) bit of model trivia.............
