Project Black Sunshine completed
Posted by Chris B on Monday, February 23, 2004 12:22 PM
Finally! The contest is now over(I didn't place at all). I did however have a lot of fun building this model for the contest. Thanks again to Mike Cole for an awesome contest!
As was mentioned this car is based of the White Zombie recording of Black Sunshine with narration by Iggy Pop. It is done as I would think Rob Zombie himself would have done if a video for this was made.
My interpretation:

The Lyrics:
(Gripping the wheel, his knuckles
went white with desire! The wheels
of his Mustang exploding on the
highway like a slug from a .45.
True death: 400 horsepower of
maximum performance piercing the
night... This is black sunshine.) Yeah! Move me in the
silence baltic motorway hang me on the edge before I
fall away - Apocalypse is dawnin' action on the mile. A
"can-do" revolution - Earth to the river [nile] Sweet'n
the ride - Black Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride - Yeah - Sweet'n
the ride - Black Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride - Yeah! Cry a
river "cosmic" - Moon in Scorpio, feel her body "breathe" -
Acid radio - Tell me that you like it - when I'm going
down! Tell me that you like it - Move to the speed of
[sound] Sweet'n the ride - Black Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride
- Yeah - Sweet'n the ride - Black Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride
- Yeah! Go! Slide into - I said "44" cool heart can - A
hypnotize dream into infinity - I turned the love to lies
- crawl across the water - wave and sink into the sea -
Reflect'n onto everything - that you can never be
"Check-out" Yeah! To the devil a daughter comes 2000
worlds away Yeah Born to lose the love you choose -
Destroy another day - check out!! Sweet'n the ride Black
Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride Yeah! Sweet'n the ride Black
Sunshine - Sweet'n the ride - Stare into the T.V. kiss off
the pain! Wonderland is falling - no sing - no rain
Momentary - damage into the high drift me to the
circuit sky (Finally nothing moves. High noon - Blacktop
rolling below the asphalt drive - A concrete fascination
scraping the edge of nothing - This is blacksunshine.)
The kit
I used Revell-Monograms Super Stallion kit. Built it box stock(yep, even the incorrect engine). I painted the body with Model master flat black, 4 coats, final two coats were wet sanded to give it that soft look.
Black chrome bmf foil went underneath the hood. The windows, headlights and tailights were painted using Tamiya clear red acrylic. The driving lights(sunshine) were painted Tamiya clear yellow acrylic. The exhaust was painted with Model Master stainless steel metalizer. The chassis was painted flat black and I added a pearl clear over for effect was all. The kit wheels centers were painted Model Master black chrome. This was a fun and very easy kit to build. It didn't take long after I had planned everything out and knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Thanks for lasting through this!!!

Awesome! I love it and the figures. There is one thing, however...I thought it was a '68 Mustang he was singing about. Maybe I got that confused with the song about the Baricuda?

Anyway, great build. I love Rob Zombie and all his stuff. That's a great tribute, esp the red headlights. Looks like the white '69 vette in "Red Red Groovy".

The Zombie thing isn't my thing. I am way too old! But the car looks great.

i too dont know much about rob zombie but the car is way cool! is that the kit engine? thats what i need for one of my projects.

I went to a "gentleman's club" because the sign said they had all the hottest models. I thought it was a hobby shop. Man, was I ever disappointed.

Thanks everyone for the great compliments. IT really is a nice kit and easy to put together. I apologize if I have offended anyone with the background photo, but it is a roadsign and corresponds with the song, hence the photo. Nothing Zombie about it, just the lead singers obssesion with 60's and 70's style horror.
roadhawg, yes, that is the kit supplied engine.

I'm also too old for the Zombie thing but that's one mean machine.
I'm hopelessly addicted to building models. Not finishing them, just building them.
