CPB finished - 67 Charger
Posted by karbuildr on Saturday, February 7, 2004 7:38 AM
This is the Revell kit, painted Testors Chrysler Engine Red with a little Chevy Engine Orange to brighten it up, 3 coats of Boyds High Gloss Clear and polished out. I hadn't planned on finishing this one for the CPB, but it finally came together once the motor was done. The car had been painted in the fall, but I left it in the box and forgot about it till recently, and got it together. Hope y'all enjoy, and as always, comments are and/or discussion are encouraged. Thanks for letting me share my work.

Thanks Dave. I should add, this is the second paint job on the car. The first one, I wasn't happy with the color, so I stripped it and repainted it after it sat in the box for a while. The second paint job came out better, and the color was more what I wanted.

Thanks again folks. Smile Whitmanoz, I like the color of your Charger, very nicely detailed model. Looks like the color I used on this GTX, which is Testors Boyds Lime Green pearl, tan interior, XS Tuning wheels, and big and little tires I had lying around. I went for an all monochromatic theme on this one.

What color did you use for the Hemi engine block? I am building my first muscle car (1968 Dart) and the color I just shot on the engine is not close.

Any suggestions?

Hemi Orange would be the correct color. You can get it from car World. Here is their website. http://ourworld-top.cs.com/mcwautofinishes/index.html

Hello 71Olds. Thank you for the compliment. I reckon you can use the distributor that came with the kit. You would have to drill out the holes in it though. I use pre-wired distributors from Scale Dreams. Thery aren't 100% accurate for factory stock as far as appearance, but they sure make things easy. Thanks folks. This isn't an easy kit to buiild. Lots of fit problems, but the result is worth it.
