1970 Hemi Charger R/T Resto-Mod (WIP)
Posted by OrangeR/T on Thursday, May 02, 2019 8:08 PM

Well i've got yet another Mopar muscle machine on the bench, Revells '70 Charger R/T! This idea has been rattling around in my head for a while now, even as i was building the Panther Pink Duster! After several OEM style builds, i need to do a mild restomod!! I wantd a medium dark blue so i'm using Testor's "De Ja Blue" Lacquer, looks almost black in some angles, pops really nice in brighter light! The red hood stripes are Model Master Italian Red lacquer, and i plan on using a red bumble bee stripe around the tail end!! Interior will be red as well, i think the color combo is pretty bold, but i think will look great in the end!! The wheels and tires are left over from the newest Revell '70 Hemi'Cuda 2'n'1 kit, same pinned suspension so they fit perfectly! I did add some plastic under the rear springs to raise the back end up tad, i think it would have been a tail dragger if i didn't, looks fairly level now in my mock up! Here's what i got so far, gonna be a rainy weekend so i should get the body into paint sometime.

Looking for the "like" button...

Seriously, this is going to be quite spectacular when you get done...

I agree. That is going to look nice. The color combo gives me some ideas for some future builds.

Been hard at work on the interior!! It's all wrapped up except for the firewall with the pedals attached, still need to piant/clear the firewall. I detailed the door panels with bare metal foil and a Molotow Chrome pen. The console i'm particularly proud of, the kit comes with really nice wood grain decals, i used the molotow pen for the top trim, some thin strips of bare metal foil for the side trim, and i found some chrome hood pins in my parts box that i sanded down to make the interior courtesy lights on the console sides, dab of white in the middle with the clear window glue to mimick lenses. I think it worked! I did not used the supplied decal for the dash, i like to paint the details myself. Here it is...

Looks real good, OrangeR/T!  I used the same paint on my '70 Charger R/T.
