Thanks Mike and Jr.

modelcarjr

Looks good, MrMike! How was the kit? Any issues?  Nice work! CoolThumbs Up

I found the kit to be a mixed bag.  The interior seats are like those from an old AMT kit with the seats mounting directly to the interior floor.  The front suspension is chunky and clunky.  No brake or fuel lines on the chassis.  The wheel openings seem small to me or else the wheels and tires are too large?  The shifter ball is too large.  Bumpers are located by pins that go from the fenders to holes in the bumpers.  The model sits too high.  I thought it was an okay kit, but it could have been better.

That interior shot looks like the real thing.

I am almost done with my '65 Merc Cyclone.  I forgot to take some pictures while I was assembling the Cyclone.  Just a few more pieces and decals to add, so here's a few pictures to whet your appetite...

More to come...

I've got foiling about 98% done.  Have a look...

My research says these are chrome plated, and it was done!

Thanks Uncle Billiam!

I just added a final coat of clear.  When that is dry, a wetsand and polishing.

With a new can of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear in my hand, I fired up the paintbooth and clearcoated the Cyclone again.  A mist coat followed by a medium coat of clear.  I'll add another heavier coat of clear later.

I fired up the paintbooth again and clearcoated the Cyclone with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear until I ran out of clear.  Off to the LHS for more clear and a few other items.

More to come...

I fired up  the paintbooth and sprayed the Cyclone this morning with Ford Highland Green Metallic from Scalefinishes.

I got another dual scoop hood from fellow Club member Eric.  Thank you Eric!

I finished the interior.  What I found odd was that the front bucket seats did not fit into the slots on the chassis per the instructions.  The seats fitted outside the notches.  I also corrected the leaning console.

A view of the chassis.

Not without making a total mess out of both hoods.  I think I'll pass on that idea.  Thanks for the suggestion.

That sucks. Can you cut the resin hood apart and graft those snorkels onto the stock hood?

I have been reminded as to why I don't like resin hoods.  This resin hood has gone soft on me and flattened out.  If there is a way to stiffen it and get it back into shape again, I'll give it a try.  Otherwise, I'm going to use the stock kit hood with a scoop.

I really liked that hood since it had a sort of "factory" look to it.  My alternative is to use the stock kit hood with a scoop or get the Arnie Beswick Drag kit just for the hood, but that seems to be a waste of money.

I agree!  The lower control arms are too blocky and they hang down way too low.  Some parts about this kit are not anywhere near correct.  The transmission doesn't touch the rear crossmember.  The front bucket seats are reminiscent of something from a '60s era AMT kit.  But, I suppose, it is what it is...

Looking good. I do wish they had made the lower control arms separate. They look too blocky molded in.

Thanks Lee!  I have used MAD distributors and I plan on getting more of them when I get to NNL East later this month.  I have several Parts by Parks distributors in the stash.  And, yes that is red oxide primer on the chassis.
