2010 Trans Am - 1/5/19 In color
Posted by KWT on Sunday, December 30, 2018 6:26 PM

Well folks, I have decided it's time to get back in the game...

While studying a Revell '10 Camaro the other night, my brain started working overtime... I raced to the shelf and pulled down my '79 Camaro I built a while back and compared it to a '78 Trans Am the paint went all wonky on. I studied the subtle differences... and the not so subtle... Soon I decided I thought I could add a little plastic here and there, and bring to life my own vision of a modern muscle car...

I'm going for subtle here. I added 4 pcs of styrene to the front, cut down a shaker from a junk/bagged '70 trans am that's missing most of the pieces, the cut out the section between the tail lights, making it 2 instead of 4..

Still have to smooth out some things, but it's taking shape. Between Jacob, work and Christmas/New years who knows how long this will sit. But regardless, it's a start back to modeling I hope.

Stay tuned...

I've done a little sanding, smoothing and priming over the last few days. Haven't had a lot of time, but I'm happy with how it's starting to look.

Still have a ways to go, but it's getting there. I'm hoping in the end, this turns out close to what I'm seeing in my head.

Anyway, Happy New Year! Stay tuned...

Looks good, KWT! I like the changes to the front end. Really make a difference. Good luck with the rest! CoolThumbs Up

If you cannot have a good time, what kinda time can you have? JR

Next on the bench:  Another 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, 1958 Chevy Impala, 1987 Buick GNX, 1950 Chevy Pick-up, Indy Reynard, 1965 Corvette, probably not in this order.

I always enjoy watching a "What if" build.  You are doing some excellent conversion work with this one.  Keep those updates coming.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

Thank you guys... I think it's about ready to start adding color. Hopefully this weekend. I'm trying to design some decals and source some wheels. It's going be a bit before this one gets finished.

The TA is in color... Testors Model Master Black Lacquer

Still have to get the decals and wheels figured out... and decide how I'm going to do the tail lights... but I'm digging this so far.

Very cool. The rear still looks too Camaro. Otherwise most excellent. Liking forward to the finish. I can't recall seeing anyone tackle this in scale.
