Thank you Steve and Csaba!

felhasznaaloo

Congratulations MrMike! Very nice Bullitt!

Great idea for the brakes! And since you installed a green round mirror, as in the movie, why not black out the fuel cap and paint those vertical thingies coming down from the rear bumpers green.

I will be the first to admit that there are things that I have never noticed.  I am aware of the blacked out fuel cap, but I have never noticed the painted bumper overriders.  I will have to correct that.  Thanks!

That turned out really well, mrmike, the paintwork and colour are spot on, and I have to say thanx for the WIP.  You did a great job and alerted me to a few things to be wary of.  Cheers

With the exception of the exhaust tips, my Bullitt '68 Mustang GT is done.  I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

One of the things missing from this kit and from Marcos Cruz's Bullitt Mustang are brakes.  They are clearly missing from Marcos' Bullitt and I decided to replicate these.  The rear drum brakes I made from a couple of flat washers and drilled out the centers to fit over the wheels hubs.  These will be painted with Tamiya X-18 Semi-Gloss Black paint.

Since I am replacing the wheels and tires with front wheels and tires from two Revell '32 Fords, I kept the disc brakes and glued them to the wheel hubs.

Paint and clear look great, MrMike! I like the color and the other assemblies look good too. I think you will have a nice replica and a real winner! Cool Thumbs Up

This is great! I'm actually working on the same kit at the moment. I had to respray the hood last week as I chipped it the first time I wet-sanded it. The 2k should be cured by now, so tonight will be round 2 of finishing up the exterior.

Fantastic as always !

Every time I see this particular car

( what ever scale ..)

I think of the axle tramp burnout . And the rear view mirror . Seat belt clunking

Almost poetic really !

Bar the 7 hubcaps & the VW beetle .

I fired up the paintbooth for some clearcoating this morning.  I got two mist coats, one medium coat and one wet coat of clear on.  These will be going into the dehydrator shortly.

I usually paint the underside of a hood first if I can.  Hood hinges can usually be clamped in a spring clip, paint both sides of the hood, the underside first, and then I paint the hinge after the hood has dried.  If the hood doesn't have a hinge, I place the hood on my paint bottle with a piece of tape on the top and paint the underside.  When that has dried, I flip the hood over and paint the top.

Absolutely!  It should be all about you!  That interior shot makes your detailing really pop. Nice work. I am impressed with your patience painting the hood in two stages. I will do anyhing to do both sides at the same time, even though it means I have a flaw where I glued sprue on the bottom, or a preglued on hinge that needs color later.

Thanks Bainford and Csaba!

I am going to paint the rear panel flat or semigloss black after I clearcoat the Mustang.  I'm going for a "movie version and sold-after-movie/50 years later" version.  Just my idea of what the Bullitt Mustang could/might be.  Okay, it's my version of the Bullitt Mustang!

Great progress and nice paint! Are you doing a green or a black rear panel? (Movie version or resold-after-filming version?) Geeked

I got the body painted and now for a little cleanup of some trash that found its way into the paint.  If I sand the finish, I'll have to repaint the body.  If I can remove the trash with my fingernail, I may not have to repaint.  We shall see.

A view of the interior.

I finally got the Bullitt Mustang into a couple coats of Tamiya Grey Primer.  I have a couple of minor blemishes to sand out.

The hood was also primered and I usually start spraying paint under the hood to see how the paint will react.  This is my first time using Scalefinishes paint and it sprayed out very nicely.  I thought that the color might have been too dark, but this is very close to what I was hoping for.  A couple more coats and the color will be perfect!

I did some digging around a found a set of wheels and tires from a Revell '32 Ford that would work with this Mustang.  I kept the front disc brakes and painted them aluminium with flat black calipers.

I've been adding detail here and there to the chassis and I made a set of seat belts for the front bucket seats.

One of the things about this chassis that I don't like is the screws used to hold the chassis and the interior in.  I found a piece of round styrene that will fit the screw hole and cover the screw when all is assembled.

Thanks mmthrax!

I am having second thoughts about the rear wheels and tires.  The wheels and tires I have now seem too large for the car.   I found a matching set of front wheels and tires from a completed model that was built a few years ago.  Since the actual tires on the 1:1 car are just slightly wider in the rear, I could do the same on my model.  We shall see...
