General Mayhem Hellcat
Posted by 80'NascarCollector on Monday, June 04, 2018 12:58 PM

This post will be about me version of the famous Roadkill General Mayhem.

I started the projet as the first version with the Camper 440 engine...but the more I worked on it it slowly switch to the latest Hellcat version.

Not easy buid so far because:

1- The car is a junker, missing trims, bad paint etc...so its not your typical build

2- Its a real pain to find Hellcat parts in 1/24, no real nice kit are out yet.

Anyways, I will post from start to were I am today.

First pics:

The beginning, found the right wheels for the original project, making holes for the side marker, door handle etc

Next, I started to rework the firewall and making a trunk pan

Also cutting the dash.

The General mayhem is famous for the front grill and headlight, so I make my own out of a pen

While adding front headlight, why not make taillights

Next, trying to duplicate the hood scoop, many will use the hood out the race car version, well close enough for most, I wanted closest possible, with weld and rust etc...

This is a ruff for the speaker deck, but it was ditch because in the now Hellcat, its a checkered plate (use as a firewall for the gas tank in the trunk)

rear trunk pan, its not super pretty, but its will be severly weathered later

Donor for the supercharger, dash radio and cluster, I know its not a Charger Hellcat, but its the best at the moment

First try at the interior.

First Hellcat engine fitment (engine out of the Foose Challenger)

In this pic, I reworked the floor color, added scratchbuilt pedals, did the NOS bottle & bracket, reworked the trans tunnel and tried some weathering, but didn't like that part.

Next, I needed some racing seat, they are Kirkley's. I bought some brass etch but the original seat doesn't have that much holes. So I made some. I added some aluminum foil with thin strip to replicate factory welding of the seat. Electrical tape make the outer seat cover and Tamiya for the inside ''textured'' look.

Racing seat = racing seat tracks

Well long first post, sorry. I will update when I get more done. Its taking alot longer then I originaly though....no surprise there lol

Really cool project so far!! Can you tell me where you got the nitrous bottle and brackets from? What color did you use to paint the bottle?

Bottle and braket are from Detail Master DM-3219

I addeed the ''rubber strap''

For the paintm, that's a old spray can I bought 10+ years ago from my local auto parts store. I will check the brand when i'm back home “edit” VHT Translucent Metal Tint coating #SP-231

Fantastic work so far!  This is a project I've been collecting parts for as well, and not sure if you've seen Clearly Scale's Hellcat engine but that may be another option for you: http://www.clearlyscale.com/product/hemi-hellcat-supercharged-v8-engine-set

Also, Welly just recently released a current (non-Hellcat) Charger diecast, if you still need a source for the center console.

That a nice engine! Picking one up right away! I didn't know about this seller. He is now in my favorite! Nice stuff!

For the console, I will attempt to make one....will see.

That's an awesome project you're working on!

Too many models to build in a lifetime.

I'm so glad you are building the General. I had the same idea, same but using the motor home engine, but I would probably not get to it for years (long project list).

Clearly scale makes a sweet complete hellcat swap . But it takes almost 2 months to get because he uses a strange remailer system to ship bulk packages to the US .... But the parts are first rate !

"rare" kit? no such thing!

build it, dont let it sit on the shelf.....

you cant take it with you, hearses dont have luggage racks......
