As if I didn't have enough on the go... but who doesn't in the model world, I am starting to work on the beast that is the Gremlin X.

If anyone has built this kit, they know it's very basic and the fit of the chassis to the interior tub and body is, well not great. The Chassis is narrower than the body, so it all just sits on the chassis, and the kit over all is chunky with lots of plastic.

I have never built an AMC so this will be fun.

I am not going to jack this thing in the air to get the drag radial underneath so I back halfed the chassis reusing the kits own plastic, and the result decent.

I kept the plastic around the driveshaft tunnel leading to the rear so I didn't have to cut and fill that area later.

since the chassis is a solid piece of plastic and this angle allows for a great glue point I cut very carefully down the angle

chopped!

The marks on the table show where I wanted the outside of the frame rail to sit. I spilt the rear rails down the middle then narrowed each side leaving a smaller molded in gas tank. Not having to build a fuel cell or replacing the tank makes me happy.

And here's the end product. some 2 part expoy to fill the joints and add strength and it will be on to the interior tub.

I got a little bit done over the weekend but apparently I only took 2 pics I got the interior tub cut up and tubs started and I decided that the engine bay had too my air in it, so I stuffed a quad cam hemi in there. It will be topped with a tunnel ram once I have it all painted up.

so far I have the body in primer and the chassis is in paint. I have some slight body mods to make for the rear tires to no rub on the lower fenders. it will be as stylin' as a gremlin can be once I get some paint to the body.

AngelNo actually I had a hemi block and I just stole the heads and the tunnel ram is going to be from a revell challenger kit. So the Super bee will still bee a pro street version when I take the time to build it.

More work done last night. clearanced the bottom of the rear wheel openings now my tires won't get chewed up.

I used a base coat of purple metalic and laid my decals down.

I finished the paint of with a blue candy which depending on how the light touches it, it becomes purple or blue.

started to do some shiny stuff last night and the very first pull of the tape screwed my whole project. many expletives were used while trying to touch up the paint.

I continued to do my work extra careful like and even opted to hand paint some of the areas to save the paint.

For some reason I am struggling to start the interior. I just look at it and go ugh.

and it looks like photobucket has realized that I am not a paying member and is starting to shut me down Confused oh well....
