1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1
Posted by BuildingCars4Fun on Tuesday, February 06, 2018 2:56 PM

Completed the build on the 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1. The kit by Revell was one of their two in one kits, and was a lot of fun to build. Plenty of details (the engine looks great), and the shape etc all very nice.

Having said that - many of the parts didn't fit well (especially around the rear) and the decals were awful (I ended up painting the black stripes on as the decals did not fit at all).

End result looks nice. I have included some photos below of the car that inspired me.

Might be me, but I cannot see your pics.

Edit: Funny, I can see the pics when I look at this post with my phone, but not with my laptop?  Go figure.....

anyway, the car looks really nice, even better than the real one Wink

Great presentation pics too! How did you get the floor shine effect?

Thanks! Actually the effect is the top of my desk that I do my builds on. Whenever I finish one, I have to take all my kit off and do a photo session. Quite fun TBH.

The desktop surface is polished rubber... its an old art deco steel desk.

That's a very nice Mach1, and I agree about the decals. I painted the center section of the hood black, rather than fight trying to get the stupid thing to lay down. Hope I'm not hijacking your thread, normally I'd just post a link to my own build thread. But Photobucket decided to mess with things, so most people can't see the pics anymore. I lost the painted side mirrors, when I went to snip them off the sprue. Bang Head

Just curious, where did you get tires that have both Goodyear and Firestone on them? Are those the kit tires? I used tires from a 1/25 AMT Shelby Mustang, so I don't remember what the ones in the kit were like.

Again, nice build!

thanks - yours looks great too.

Regarding the tyres, thats actually a screw up on my part. The decals are from another model (Porsche 917K) and for some reason I put on both the Goodyear and Firestone decals. Really should be one or the other!

Still - looks good if you don't read what they say!
