1969 Nova SS
Posted by Retro Joe on Sunday, January 28, 2018 8:21 PM

First photo is dated July 10, 2016, and that is when I started painting the Nova. Finally began assembly two weeks ago, and finished it last night. Here are the WIP photos, and then a gallery of the finished model. Thanks for looking!

I have a habit of changing my mind when it comes to wheels for a build. In my opinion, rally wheels are too plain for most (not all) of my builds. Here's the first decision on the wheels:

In this photo of my completed wiring, you can see that I already changed my mind about the wheels:

I can't believe I actually installed a LOWER radiator hose!

Always relieved when the glass is installed. This one had 6 windows! But the kit is so nice, they went in great!

This kit has so much detail, you can even see the "T3" style headlight design!

Very nice Joe - Great colour ! I know what you mean about the wheels . I sometimes have one side "stock" the other "special" so I can rotate it to suit my needs . I saw some pics of the 3 Firebirds on Pintrest BTW....

Thanks Spencer! It was probably Facebook for the Firebirds, since I'm not on Pinterest

Looks good, Joe! I've got another one of these in the closet and your build certainly gives me the itch to build it! Nice work! Cool Thumbs Up

Beautiful Nova, Joe. This vintage of Nova is by far my favorite Chevy of the muscle era. Yours looks great in red, and the Torque Thrust wheels suit it perfectly. Very cool.

Nice build on that Nova, as I had done one back in '09 I believe. I added the 427 block from the COPO kit if I remember correctly.

I like everything about this.  This is probably my favorite color and wheels for this car.

Thanks guys! Hard to get things seen on here anymore, with a bunch of old posts being bumped up. But I appreciate the comments. I'm on Facebook in the "Model Car Builders" group if anyone wants to see more. There are over 15,000 members, and I can post photos on there and get 100 interactions within an hour sometimes. That takes months or years on this forum.

Fantastic job on your Nova. Funny about your lower radiator hose, I may have 2-3 installed out of my 70+ builds !

I also have another Nova kit in my stash and your build gives me a little more incentive to break it out.

NIce work Joe.  I love rally wheels, but I think your choice is spot on for the build.  Is that felt for the carpeting?  Really clean build.  Looks great, as usual.  You always do a nice job.  I remember one of these in my neighborhood back in the 80's.  It had a black vinyl top.  How was the kit?  Any fit issues or red flags?

Just keep picking away at it...

Thanks guys! Yes, mmthrax, it is felt for the carpeting. I had absolutely no issues with the kit...it is one of the best I've ever done!

Doing a '79 Z-28 as tribute to the first glue kit I ever built by myself at age 7. Too cold for clear coat, so I'm at a stopping point, but almost finished.
