1979 Camaro Z28 -- 8/8/17 Finished
Posted by KWT on Friday, July 28, 2017 8:56 PM

Just got started on this one a couple weeks ago... I have the body painted and the decals added (except for the ones around the hood scoop that I jacked up). This will be the next of two in line after the Impala and the Cutlass are done..

Paint is Testors Black Lacquer...

Stay tuned...

While taking a break from the Impala, I decided to work on the Camaro a little bit...

Got the wheels, tires and engine done tonight...

I painted the wheels Model Master black chrome.. more of a satin than anything. Not what I expected. Outlined them and the center caps with a silver sharpie.

Tire decals are from Fireball Modelworks.

Stay tuned...

While still taking a break from the Impala, before I decide to break the Impala... I'm chuggin along on the Camaro. The best thing about these old Revellogram kits, is they build up rather nicely and the there's not alot of pieces. So even with a little work, you've got a lot done lol.

I got the tires mounted, the engine installed and the interior/interior tub assembled and all married together...

Got this one finished up over the last couple days..

This is the Revell/Monogram 1/24 1979 Camaro Z28 3n1 kit... the Streetburner release... Painted it Testors Black Lacquer and cleared with Testors Wet Look Clear. Engine painted Testor Nassua Blue, and chromed the air cleaner with a Molotow Chrome pen to test it out. All box stock except for the plug wires, the body decals from Keith and then the tire decals from Fireball Modelworks. Not perfect, but I'm tickled..

Still have to put a plate on the back. Just have to figure out what I want it to say...

Looks really good!  The black paint came out smooth, too!  My brother-in-law had a '78 and he put air shocks on the back and it looked like it was trying to push the nose into the ground! lol  His car was a dog as my '63 Galaxie 500 with a 352 4-bbl would blow it's doors off!

Thanks, Mike! I do appreciate it buddy!!

Awesome story! I don't know if they ever kitted the Galaxie, but if they did you should build a "diorama" type piece of those two cars. lol.

That's a great looking Camaro, nice job.  I agree about the Fireball Modelworks tyre decals, they sure give a realistic appearance.  Cheers.

I've ordered from Fireball a couple times, and definitely will again! Just bought this same kit a few months ago. It was my first solo build when I was 7 years old. Looking forward to choosing colors, etc. Awesome job...yours is a beauty for sure! Your wheels are great inspiration.

Thank you, Retro Joe. I do appreciate it.

I originally built a version of this kit many moons ago. It was molded in black and had smokey colored glass. I didn't paint it... As with quite a bit of my kits then... I still have 85% of that kit. This is pretty much what it looked like then. I have a couple more of these I'm going different directions with, but this one was destined to look like that original one.

Can't wait to see what you do with yours.

Looks good, KWT! The decals and paint job really set it off. Looks a lot like the 1980 MPC Pontiac Trans Am but that is an awful kit! Your Camaro looks great! CoolThumbs Up

If you cannot have a good time, what kinda time can you have? JR

Next on the bench:  Another 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, 1958 Chevy Impala, 1987 Buick GNX, 1950 Chevy Pick-up, Indy Reynard, 1965 Corvette, probably not in this order.
