Posted by wabatuckeun on Monday, July 01, 2013 11:23 AM

It's been a while since I've built anything so here's my foray back into building. I'm building this to hopefully be at the 2013 MoPar Nationals with. Color will be Alpine White with a red Interior. As always comments are welcome

So, this is the project you were telling me about!  I'm looking forward to more from you my friend!  BTW, judging from the last picture, you need to cut back on the coffee...you're shaking too much.  LOL

Stace......I built this kit a few years back and found it a very enjoyable build. Good luck with it!

I got some work done the other day. Installed positive and Negative cables, 727 Torqueflite. The interior is a nice red, which on the door panels I tried to fog some black to make them more like the real cars. As always comments are welcome!

Unfortunatly not yet GeeTee, I'm on my "long streach" at work with an added day so I will only have 1 day off after3 12's then 3 more 12's. I plan to try to do something with it on my day off just depends on what my wife needs me to do. Thanks for asking!

Sooo a couple of months have gone by since I last posted on this and finally I have a small update! I started over with the motor because I got some Detail Master Wire looms and on the real car they are painted the color of the motor. The looms are actually as close to the factory locations as I could get which seems crazy now since you won't be able to see all of them!  Didn't get much else done but this, getting ready to paint the motor but the humidity shot through the roof so I might try to paint it tomorrow when I get home from work.

Also while I was perusing the issue of SAE Where Clay Kemp talks about opening up doors I set the Daytona's body down on the magazine went to get a drink andf when I got back the driver's door had fallen off!! Now if only the spirit of Clay will help hinge it and get it back on! As always all comments are welcome!

Ok got the daughter's beauty shop done and opened on time so I actually had some  time to work on the Daytona Wed. and Thurs., and this is where I'm at. Motor is  about 95% done going to try to add linkage just trying to figure out what to use  for a throttle return spring, but that's not here yet. Anyway enjoy the pics and  as always comments are welcome

WEll I had some time the other night to do a little work on the rear end. Once I  got it done I realized it was the wrong rear end for the car I was doing. So I  dove into my stash and found a correct rear end in my 67 GTX kit! So I modifyed  it and detailed it even adding the factory inspection marks to the pig! I also  managed to get the driver's door working.  A little modifying to the kick panel  and it was working ok. Thanks for looking and as always comments are  welcome

WOW!!!  You've been busy!  The motor looks good.  Apparently it hasn't been started yet since the paint on the exhaust manifolds hasn't burnt off.  I like the details you are adding!  Keep up the good work!

Nice going, Stace!

I really like your detailing! Are you going to weather (mist) the engine kind of like the interior panels? Hope you will. Did you even out the mold line at the rear corner of the rear quarter windows, or it is not an issue with this kit?

I like the jokes you mist around the thread. :-D

Regards, Csaba

Thanks Guys!!

Csaba, I probably won't mist the motor. I built that from photos of the actual motor in the car I'm replicating. I haven't looked at the body much yet except to cut off the door so I'll check out those lines and let you know. Thaks for the heads up on that though! Not much done since I spent my day off chasing my 3 year old granddaughter arounf so my wife could rest. Hopefully I'll get some work done in a few days.

Ok  got some work done New Year's Day and the day after. Body in primer( FINALLY!!!) I got the door done, panel installed and filled the gaps in to make it look correct. I also fabricated a door jam but I haven't took a picture of it yet. I found out from the owner I have a few details off on the chassis so we're planning a phone conversation on what I need to do to make it right. I will post the redone chassis when I get it fixed, For now enjoy and as always all comments are welcome!
