Hey All,
Just found this site! I'm 37 years old from Concord N.C.. I have belonged to the Road Knights Model Car Club in Charlotte N.C. since 1986! We put on one big show a year in August. I build T.V. & movie cars, race cars, imports,& muscle cars. I am a HUGE Dukes of Hazzard fan & put on a Dukes model car show once a year with my friend Ben Jones & his wife Alma. Ben played Cooter on the show.
Looking forward to meeting ya'll.

Grant

hey grant,i got a dukes story. back when the show was new, the 1st few episodes were filmed in ga. and the show was supposed to be set in ga. i made up a hazzard county decal for my car tag( our plates have the county decal at the bottom). my dad and i were coming home from a race one night and got stopped by a trooper who actually wanted to know exactly where hazzard co was and if we really knew the dukes. i told him they were fictional but hazzard co. was just south of atlanta. he thanked me and let us go.
let us know when your contest is,id love to come. thanks and welcome!

I went to a "gentleman's club" because the sign said they had all the hottest models. I thought it was a hobby shop. Man, was I ever disappointed.

Hey All,
The model car show will be at the Bristol motor speedway July 31- Aug. 1. The contest will be only Dukes of Hazzard cars. It will be held at Dukesfest 04. Their will be a Dukes stunt show. They will be jumping a General Lee, rolling 2 police cars, and wrecking a "bad guy" car. Most of the stars will be there also.
The model car club that I have been a member of since 1985, The Road Knights Model Car Club, here in Charlotte N.C. will be putting on our yearly contest the 2nd weekend of Aug.. We are trying to get our website going. It is at roadknight.netBig Smile

I read the last jump that the General Lee did last year in a Mopar magazine, great article and looked like a good show! did they use real police package vehicles for the roll over? or just painted to look like a police car? I know a lot of us in the police car hobby kinda cringe when we see a good police package car get wrecked that could be restored , but it looked like everyone had fun.

Hey Hazardman,
No, you will be happy to here that no real police cars were harmed in the stunts!(lol) My friend Tom Sarmento used to be a mechanic on the show. He is one of the people responsible for building the stunt cars. The police cars were just old cars that were in so-so shape. Full roll cage, tune up, & a maco paint job. The charger they jumped was a MAJOR bondo buggy.

Hey, i may just have to attend that show in Bristol. maybe if i'm lucky John Schnieder will show up and i can corner him and talk him into doing the Mopar Nationals Annually again, lol.
He always brought the best General Lee to the show and even though he had a couple pieces of duct tape keeping some of the chrome on his ride...It looked authentic compared to the showroom Gen's that normally attend...

Well I gotta tell ya. Dukes of Hazzard brings back many of memories. I got my first suspension from the private school I went to because of a TV guide cover I had brought to school with the Duke boys on it...............and Daisy of course....lol. I think her shorts were why I got in trouble. Welcome aboard.
