New to forum, not to modeling. Going in circles for 70 years.

I'm here to catch up on cars. I began modeling ~ 8-9 years old, with a Chris Craft boat I won at a YMCA archery contest in the mid 50s. My first run lasted until 1964. In those years my future self was revealed. I built old ships, WWl airplanes, old cars, (Stanley Steamers!etc) Pyro antique guns, and figures...Aurora gladiators, Army, Navy, Marine guys, ITC Neanderthal man, the huge and plated Pyro Roman Centurian and Conquistador, and a couple of monsters. I stopped building as I bought the Aurora Dracula in 1964, and finally built it in 84. My first phase was over before the 1st plastic modeling magazine in America made its debut in 1965. My second foray was in the late 70s when my wife decided she wanted a 56 Tbird. In all our shopping,  fell in love with the 55-57 birds, and before it was over, I'd made the Monogram 56 in every color they came in using the authentic colors the restorers used. Then, I did all the AMT 1:16 57s, and the one 55 I could find. I did a few other cars, won a category with a 57, finally built Dracula (turning a $350 mob vintage kit into a $30 build!) and got a best in show....and quit again. In the late 80s, I discovered the garage kit industry with all its wild and crazy figures, spaceships, models from literature, movies, Japan, and the Inner darkness! Many Wonderfests later, our local group became IPMS, and figures, planes, tanks, cars are all cross fertilizing. So, im back around to cars because of a specific idea.  For later.

Welcome to the forum, seaclif. Glad you finally made it back around to cars. Show us some of your work when you can, and good luck with your project. Enjoy.

Hello and welcome to the group my friend. Nice choice of cars (55-57 birds). I'm sure you can agree that it is nothing like when we were building in the 60's. I too was only partially engaged in modeling from 1978-2005 when military, family, and work all got much more of me than the hobby. Anyway, welcome once again to the forum.
