Completely new to scale modeling.
Posted by QbanFam on Sunday, January 27, 2019 12:23 AM

I became interested in scale modeling a couple of years ago. I began reading and researching on the subject before getting my hands dirty. I also got a hold of a few tools, including air brush set, over those two year. I finally started with my first model, which was very intimidating. I feel confident that I’ll received great advice and constructive criticism from the great minds in this site. Thank you all.

Welcome to the fun! If you're new to airbrushing also, I would recommend searching through Youtube videos for Donn Yost's techniques on the subject. You can also look up Scale Modeling Channel.  There is also general modeling info on Youtube as well. What type of models are you interested in building? I'm assuming that since you're on a automotive model site that you're building cars but what kind of automotive subjects interest you? What is the kit that you're currently building?

Can you show some pics of your progress?

Welcome to the forum. It's a good place to learn the hobby. If you have any questions, find the proper section of the forum and ask away. Good luck, and enjoy.

Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

My only reccomendation would be to not get discouraged.

You have to remember that many of us older guys in the hobby have been honing our skills for as long as a half of a century or more!

You can't learn to swim without swallowing a little water. Wink

Welcome to the club!  It's all about fun so take your time and enjoy it.  Build something straight out of the box and then add features with each car you build.  Eventually you'll really be surprised at how much you improve by incrementally challenging yourself.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You have picked a nice site as the members here are gifted, well respected, and kind (at least from my perspective).

Glad to have you here. Remember that this is a hobby and it should be FUN... build what you like and enjoy the results.
