Hello.
Posted by Roger Bannon on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 9:37 PM

I am a 37 year old male, who has a moderate styrene addiction, and a touch of the OCD.  I have never been apart of any kind of community regarding model cars.  However, I am not getting any younger, and I really enjoy reading what the others are posting in the forums.  I am not the fastest builder, and it usually takes me the better part of the year to fully complete my builds.  I still have an incredible amount to learn in this hobby, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of learning new tricks.  Besides, how can anyone ever know it all, am I right?  Anyways, I am glad that this site exists, and thank you for having me.

I will never claim to know it all.

You have the right idea. Don't rush, continue to learn and don't be afraid to push your boundaries. It's only plastic. My builds take as long or longer than yours with everything else life throws out there. I haven't heard of any contest awards for quickest build. I modify everything I build to varying degrees (just like my 1:1 cars) and have a clear vision of what I want when I start. Sometimes the direction may change along the way but I usually stick to the plan. If you're developing patience and creativity as you go you are doing it right. Relax, have fun and take time to think through the problem areas that pop up before you react. Smile

Welcome to the forum, Roger. I have some bad news; this place can only serve to deepen your styrene addiction, and with all the interesting things you learn on the forum you will find your builds may take longer to complete as you develope the new techniques. That's what happened to me, anyway. I take at least a year to grind through my builds as well, and some take much longer. But it's all good. Enjoy the forum.

Welcome aboard.

You have come to the right place.

There is a lot of neat stuff going on.

What are you into?  Trucks, Muscle, Hot rods?

Best regards,

mmthrax

Just keep picking away at it...

Thank you, I like building all sorts in the scale auto world. However, my knowledge on Gassers and Hotrods is very limited. I enjoy box stock with a little twist, weathering and adding those little details really gets me going.

Nice Chevy.  Look forward to seeing more of your work.  Whatever you like, there's space here.  Box stock to outrageous detail.  If you post your works in progress, you usually have a chorus to cheer you on.  Again, welcome.

Just keep picking away at it...

Thank you mmthrax, truth be told, I wasn't sure if you could see it, as it continued to show up as a broken link for me.  So I removed it...
