Beginning again
Posted by dlh on Friday, October 20, 2017 9:41 AM

At 65, I've begun to build models again.  I built when I was in my teens, but things have changed much since then.  I've been at it for about a year now and still consider myself a beginner compared to others in this and other forums.  I've built:

BMW320i (owned one in the 70's)

VW Samba (owned a '62 but not the Samba

Cobra, 3 Vette's (learning projects)

BMW Isetta (my favorite kit so far)

1930 Bentley Blower (Heller kit rebranded as Revell Germany)

I'm now working on a Gunze Messerschmitt KR200.  I have some kits lined up including an Italeri Mefistofele, and something different, a North Cormorant oil platform.  Skills are getting better, but I still have some major FUBARS now and then.  Even with the mistakes, it's great fun.

"Even with the mistakes, it's great fun." Words to hobby by, for sure! Lots of us started out in the hobby long ago, stopped for many years, then got back into it as time allows. While the old kits were fun, the level of detail has improved considerably without harming the fun factor. It sounds like you have quite a variety of kits, so boredom shouldn't be an issue. Good to have you with us! Welcome

Welcome from Texas. I'd like to see a  picture of the oil platform. Don't think i've ever seen one of those in model form.
