Starting up again after 9 years
Posted by Big Gary on Sunday, September 24, 2017 1:56 PM

I moved from west Texas to just about as far east as you can get in Texas, and at the  same time got busy working and left modeling aside.  Now with 100 kits sitting in boxes in the store room, I dragged a few out and are starting again.  I have purchased 4 kits in the past year, but didn't do anymore than look at them and put them on a shelf.

Now I've started spraying primer and paint, and surprisingly, making rookie mistakes.

I used to be on this forum as gph_kkh but haven't been on here since '09, until now.  Most of my kits are Mopar and airplanes.  Many of those will go on ebay in the near future.

Now building, Revell '67 Coronet R/T, Lindbergh '64 Dodge 330, Lindbergh Little Red Wagon A-100 as a delivery truck, and fantom '69 Hemi Charger CHP car.  It was rumored that such a car existed but says it was only a rumor.

An aside to that, when I was in Wichita Falls, TX a few years back, a guy told me he had a '66 Chevy Chevelle SS396, heading North toward Oklahoma at 90 mph.  He passed a County Sheriff in a '67 Coronet cop car and thought "He'll never catch me!"  That cop was on his back bumper in 2 miles, and pulled him over.  He asked the deputy how he caught him so fast.  Deputy said, "Its got a Hemi", and opened the hood of his car.  Sure enough, there was a street Hemi under the hood.  I assume he was telling the truth, but it seems pretty unusual. Surprise

Welcome back to the hobby Big Gary. You know it's not unusual for manufactures to sneak out a special order or 2 for police departments every now and again. It's how the Mustang SSP was created.

Welcome Gary, I go away for long terms and come back from time to time as I am a model railroader.

Welcome back!

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I wrote ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
