I got the info I needed thanks... BTW... Quebec plates are smaller than Ontario ones!

FWIW... Ontario plates are 12 1/16 inches by 6 1/8 inches...

I suppose it might take a bit longer if you have mobility issues! I guess it's a good time to share that since your sensitivity is so overwhelming!

I would have no way of knowing of any mobility issues you may have unless you said so. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The reason I like this site is if someone has the info you need they usually offer it. I was trying to show courtesy to car owners by not assuming that they would be O.K. with a stranger measuring the license plate on their car.

I do not have a disability but if someone does we should not assume they should have to tell us just to ask a simple question about info someone might have at hand!

My statment doesn't say I have a dissability, I wrote it to illustrate the assumption of harrypri's reply...

, , , ,and this from Answers.com ,,,,

" In 1956, the U.S. states and Canadian provinces came to an agreement with the Automobile Manufacturers Association that fixed the size for all North American passenger vehicle plates at 6" x 12". Smaller sizes are used for motorcycles and, in some states, mopeds and certain types of trailers and construction equipment. "
